Hi all,

All of a sudden, I'm getting no sound from my speakers in the Zed - apart from a "pop" when the head unit is switched on. There is power to the head unit, everything works ok - tuner and cd, all the lights on, but not a peep out of it.

I've pulled the head unit out, fiddled with the connections but to no avail - still silent. When my laddie comes home I'll try the head unit out of his car but until then ...............any ideas?

Thanks in advance - Andy

I've never had a head unit pack in before, wouldn't it give any warning of beginning to pack in or is it just sudden death?

Ok, I've now had the chance to put the head unit from my daily drive into the Zed.........still no sound. The head unit from the Zed works when put into the Primera (daily drive). Sooooo, there's something amiss in the Zed.

I've been working the rear quarters and had the rear seats out, the trim panels off and the carpet peeled back - is there anything in that area that I may have disturbed which could cause loss of sound, like an amplifier module??

Hi Si,

The door speakers are JBL's, the rear are Pioneers - neither have been touched recently. I'll backtrack my work and see if I've disturbed something. I don't suppose that there's a speaker/amplifier fuse is there?

I had same problem yesterday, ive fitted HSD coil overs and trapped a speaker wire under one of the nuts !

Thereis an amp in the car in some models.. cant remember where it is though im sure soe one wll be along soon to let you know

in (i think all) UK spec, the amp is in the boot under the trim near the right rear speaker, it only does the rear speakers

in some imports all 4 speakers have the amps built in to the speaker housing

in some swb there is an amp behind the passenger seat (unclip trim to left of shelf over petrol tank and look down there) i think it does all 4 speakers, but in my vert it only does the fronts as there are no rears
