FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

just been to kwik fit to have my 20mm spacers put on and the thread coming from the hub comes out too far through the spacer and stops the wheel sitting on the spacer properly :headvswal  :headvswal WHY??!?!??!??!?!?

the guys there recommended getting an extra 10mm standard spacer to go on top of the 20mm hubcentric.

plus they reckon (and i agree with them) that the rear doesnt need spacers at all, and seems to be almost flush with the arch as it is! surely the hubs are spaced out the same front and back arent they?

f***ing wheels man!

EDIT: the rear hubs seem to be 20mm wider than the front so ignore my comment above, you learn something new every day

as far as im aware theyre standard - rusty as owt so they must be, lol.

do you mean yours dont have enough thread on them?

You cant put a 10mm slip on over a bolt on as there wont be enough thread left on the stud on the spacer, you could press longer studs in the bolt on spacer or just buy some 25mm bolt ons .cutting down the factory studs is ok as long as you dont ever take the bolt on spacer off to fit wheels as the studs will be too short .Some after market wheels have cut outs in the back to allow studs to stick into them a bit ive had this problem before obvoisly your wheels havent.15MM and 20mm bolt ons normally have this problem because the spacer is narrower than the lenght of the factory studs.

well the plot thickens. i rang the guys who flog the wheels and they reckon that the inside of the wheel has pockets to allow for stud length. think to myself right eff this, take one of the fronts off and lo and behold there's a hole for the stud, but its in the wrong place and too close to the centre of the wheel. :headvswal

you can see the overlap in the first pic. changing from 20mm to 25mm spacers should sort this out though, but then my fronts are almost outside the arch!

Thats a real PITA mate.... i was going to get them spacers too... right have to re think... unless i have the cut outs in the rear of the wheel... will have to check....

If you want to keep with 20mm cutting the factory studs down is fine .

Yes mate my fronts dont have enough but mine are standard as well

i wonder if yours were cut down in a previous life... roughly how much thread do you have? looks like mine has approx 25mm

wish i was closer, would have shortened them down with me grinder lol

lol cheers mate! :D

i thought about it but i was worried about not having enough thread left should i remove the wheels and be forced to put smaller ones back on. i might spunk out on a pair of 25mm spacers and see how i go with those mate.

yeah tell me about it :( the 'pockets' as the chap calls them are a weird shape - fook knows what shape bolt theyre expected to house  because obviously the new studs are offset around the dial, the stud comes in line with the bit in the centre of the wheel that 'dips in' slightly.

...but it depends on what size spacers you were going to go for. i'll let you know how i get on with the 25s

Just shorten them- if you have replace them they are cheap and easy.

yeah im settling on that idea slowly but surely! :D

do you need rear spacers? I have 25mm spacers on the front but none on the rear and I think they look great with that set up.

i ordered 20mm all round initially, but the rear hubs are about 25mm wider than the front, and spacing out even more would bring the wheel out past the arch and upset the Nazis (sorry, cops)

forgot to mention my rear 18"alloys are wider than the front are yours Dave?

yeah mine are 245 up front and 275 rear.
