hi legrath

the problem is that when i accelerate the car is not changing through the gears properly.

ie:it wouldnt change into top gear just revs built up but no tranfer to wheels.

then it went to top gear and at next junction when i went to pull away it wouldn't change into second gear.

it feels like the clutch is slipping.but i just been told that it hasnt got a clutch.

not having had much experience wit atoumatics im entirely stumpped.

any advice will be great

thanx

well i'd say you need to do autobox diagnostic check...but first check autobox fluid levels....search the forum for how to do them...also the fluid condition is relevent does it smell of burnt sugar or look brown....should be pink/red and smell less sweet

cheers UNO dont suppose you have a multi-meter i can use lol?

i know you not that far from me m8

so what has it got then?

Hi Bud

It has a torque convertor, the problem you are having is not uncommon with an autobox.

Old oil, clogged strainer will hinder the line pressure the box needs to operate properly. You sometimes find the box changes better when the oil has warmed up, thus allowing better flow.

Mine does this when its cold and wont change to top gear till its warmed up and has the same sort of symptoms that you describe.

Also my TPS is slightly out which effects gear change.

Im having mine converted to a manual this week, so wont have any more problems with it.

A good oil change and clean the strainer will make a big difference, if the box isnt already fubarred.

HTH

Cheers

Graham
