I am having a engine rebuild and have taken loads of pics.

I thought I would start a thread and share my pics and progress through this.

All the work is getting done at Custom exotics, but though It would start stripping what I could off the engine at home in the garage.

I have never done this before so It felt a bit daunting, but after a while I was enjoying It and was pleased I started stripping it myself ( felt I was learning more about my engine by doing this)

I have managed to remove the drive belts, radiator, AC radiator, PS pump, AC compressor, alternator. All the intercooler pipes removed along with the inlet pipes to the turbos, some were a right pain. All the electrical connections on the top removed and the ones round the side I could see as well. I found the heater matrix pipes were bloody hard to disconnect. I disconnected some boost hoses, but reckon there are a few more I have forgotten lol. I have been using the guides for engine removal from here and found them very helpful.

Looking at the amount of wires and hoses there are in the engine bay is scary, but I hope to simplify the bay a lot and make it look a lot less cluttered along with a bit of bling. If you ever seen DUBSPEC engine bay from the aussie forum then you know what I mean. I am aiming for something like that.

More stripping later this week, glad I'm labeling and taken loads of pics.

Here are a couple of pics of the car as it looks now down at Custom Exotics.

Thanks,

Ant

I just read through all 11 pages of this and it almost made me horny! an inspiring build and a real credit to what can be achieved through patience and hard work. i am sure that you have the envy of everyone at the club. I love it - a work of art!

p.s. what size are you wheels? and width and offset thanks :)

tom

Thanks, can't wait to get it on the road now. The wheels are 19 x 8.5 and 19 x 10.

looking good cant wait to see it in the flesh

Thanks. Hopefully it won't be long now. Glad to see yours is nearly there and well done on getting the mag feature. One day I might get mine in there. Be nice to see yours, hopefully at some meets or shows.

me too !! top work !! cleanest car in uk (probably in europe too)!!

Thank you for a nice comment. I've never thought of it as being the cleanest, just trying to do something a little different.

The road never ends, there is always other things to do different and change. Will have to let the bank balance settle a bit first lol...

Thanks again.

Really can't wait to get it back on the road now. There is light at the end of the tunnel :)

that really does look fantastic.

i dont really like the blended swage line look usually but with the wide arch and the door handle removal it looks suberb, really raising the bar here and making it real hard for any of us with projects on to better that.

thats a good thing by the way.

that paint job must have cost a fortune, wish i could afford someone to do that on mine.

Blimey that looks like a superb paint job! What have you do about popping the doors?

Thanks. The door poppers are going to be under the mirrors I think, not 100% as Brett at custom exotics is sorting this out.

Just read through this entire thread, my hat is off and I have an erection:tongue_smilie:

Well done Ant, this is my favourite zed in the world:thumbup1:

Thanks Ant, I`m just going through the engine bay tidy job and got rid of all the nastys and going for a look very similar to yours , I really want to copy but I cant,(copycat and all that) and to be honest I cant find a better colour than you have chosen:no: So my search goes on to find the right one, ahhhhhhhh, yours is just soooo nice bud, love it!!

Love to meet up at some shows next year and see yours in the flesh, awesome bud :thumbup1:

I had trouble finding a colour and it was Scott who pushed me to go with candy orange as the colour. I really wasn't sure but glad I did in the end. Neally went with a blue but it has had been done before and wanted to be different lol. Feel free to copy what you want as you will be doing things your own way and would still look different as well as superb. I think many of the candy colours are really nice.

One thing if you havent done which I found made a real big difference was to clean the rear of the headlight plastics and the metal thing on top :tongue_smilie: what ever it's called. As you see in the pic i think it makes a big difference.

Looking forward to see more of yours as it progresses. Once you start you will want to swap clean and change everything lol.

Ok, just a little update as it's been a long time. The car is all back together apart from putting the arch liners in on one side and getting the rear screen in along with the trim and bleed the brakes.

Got a new steering wheel and handbrake cover to fit at some point (still need to find a nice gear knob though), along with the triple dash pod to go above the center console to replace the triple pillar pod.

So better start thinking about insurance soon, as it won't be long now :)

No pics of the car as of yet as I didnt have the decent camera with me. But have one of the steering wheel I decided to go with. What do you people think? I'm still undecided on a gear knob and finding it hard to find one that I like :headvswal

What do you people think of a billet steering boss? Still need to get one and not sure if they will look good.

I like that a lot, Infact i bought a fake Momo GTR2 as I love the design, The advert said I would not be able to tell the difference between fake and real, Right YEH!!!! Sent it back straight away!!

Ended up with a real momo that they fit standard in a Noble m12, not a nice as yours but good enough for me
