I am having a engine rebuild and have taken loads of pics.

I thought I would start a thread and share my pics and progress through this.

All the work is getting done at Custom exotics, but though It would start stripping what I could off the engine at home in the garage.

I have never done this before so It felt a bit daunting, but after a while I was enjoying It and was pleased I started stripping it myself ( felt I was learning more about my engine by doing this)

I have managed to remove the drive belts, radiator, AC radiator, PS pump, AC compressor, alternator. All the intercooler pipes removed along with the inlet pipes to the turbos, some were a right pain. All the electrical connections on the top removed and the ones round the side I could see as well. I found the heater matrix pipes were bloody hard to disconnect. I disconnected some boost hoses, but reckon there are a few more I have forgotten lol. I have been using the guides for engine removal from here and found them very helpful.

Looking at the amount of wires and hoses there are in the engine bay is scary, but I hope to simplify the bay a lot and make it look a lot less cluttered along with a bit of bling. If you ever seen DUBSPEC engine bay from the aussie forum then you know what I mean. I am aiming for something like that.

More stripping later this week, glad I'm labeling and taken loads of pics.

Here are a couple of pics of the car as it looks now down at Custom Exotics.

Thanks,

Ant

Thanks for the nice comments. From what you have all said I agree and think the throttle cover should remain black.

Just got to keep it all that clean now lol.

Ant

Why don't you ditch the throttle cover completely and show off those lovely curves?

Love the colour combo by the way. Looks very fresh and clean.

Is that a Zirgo fan you have. If so, what cfm?

BTW what shows are you going to this year?

Andy

sounds and looks great,:thumbup1: nice workshop as well.

Thanks for the comments guys.

Andy I would like to ditch the throttle cover but I had a company do the polishing and chroming and they didn't do much polishing work into the curves. The company I used were cr*p so I need to look for some where else fairly local. So at some point in the furture I will get another one to do the polishing work myself so I can leave the cover off. I love the way yours looks.

Regarding the fan I will have to let you know, it come with rad from ashspec.

Will try and do quite a few shows this year as well as local meets. Not met up with many people from this forum. so would be nice to meet up.

Cheers,

Cheers DUB. Thanks for the nice comment. I look forward to see where you go with yours now and glad I could help in some way.

Very very very nice all round. Love the contrast between orange and black in the engine bay.

any updated pics ???

sorry i forgot to add. where have you relocated everything???

thanx

Will be some updated pics very soon.

regarding relocating stuff. Most of the gear by the brake master cylinder is down inside the wheel arch. The PAS pot is moved back next to the brake master cylinder. Battery is in the boot and the fuel filter is relocated further down the fuel line towards the back of the car. The wire harness that runs along the front of the car has been moved from the top to under the front below the oil cooler ( you can see it in one of the pics ). I did the same as DUB and relocated the main fuse box and PTU to the passenger footwell.

I think there is more that I have missed.

I will try and get some pics up of where stuff has been moved to when I can.

sounds great man. i am currently in the process of redoing my car so i will getting to all of this shortly.

the batt has been relocated to boot. the battery tray will be removed. fuel filter installed down low in where the batt use to go. the fuse box will be mounted in where the batt use to go on the firewall. the pwr steering reservoir will be relocated next to the brake master cylinder. and the cruise control module will be relocated to where the batt use to sit...

the reason i chose to install the fuse box where the batt use to be is because personally i think it looks a bit funny having nothing on one side at all, compared to the other side with the master cylinder etc... i want to even it out so it all looks natural...

what did you have to do to move the steering reservoir to the back? was it as simple just to get a hose shop to make up a new hose for you?

looking very sexy btw, more pics more pics :p

i just read this thread all the way through and i am still wearing an erection, quality, class....

Me to, but i dont get erections anymore what with all the drugs i take, even Viag didn't work ...Great engine thou makes you NOT want to drive it...

I will be popping down to the car on sunday, so will take some pics of where some of the bits have been moved to.

The PAS pot if I remember, will take a pic tomorrow, uses two holes that hold something else in place that has been moved. They are on the side - red arrow.

Where the battery was I will be putting a catch tank in there at a later date, to balance things out a bit like you mentioned.
