Is it still The Beast for East, or has someone else taken over?

Any pictures and specifications would be great.

I should certainly hope to be at least, 100-150 BHP over all of those. I have to run in and get mapped first. But my build was put together around using NOS and Race fuel so maybe even more????.

My Engine is guaranteed upto 1250BHP from memory and it has had no expense spared on this build. But I am going to a proper race tuning place to do the map and upgrade the fuel and ignition system to complete it.

Having seen this car and the engine work carried out by Kyle its certainly going to to be a big number car.Brace yourself peeps for the Beast from the South east :thumbup1:

why would you want all that power? just for the track???

certanly not for the road :lol:

She is soooooooo close now  I got all the NOS stuff fitted today, we got most of the electrics sorted. Hard pipes are on, power steering connected, belts fitted, water pipes on, engine oil in, coolent in, etc etc. Just need to do a few little bits and stick the rest of the interior in and the exhaust on and she is ready to go to the race shop.

Its a project car, just wanted to do everything as well as I could. I did not fancy having to do it again so just went for the best build I could.

Martin, if you're about next Saturday, I'll come down and refit the rest of your interior for you if you like?

Si I have a feeling it will be in by then, but I will let you know and thanks for all your help.

Madmax:

Your specs are impressive and brutal. This demonstrates that you have spent a lot of time and money to become the best or among the best! I`ll leave an open space for the power but put you on the list already now. I`ll be surprised if you don`t reach 700 RWBH.

I have been through most of what you are now doing, spent perhaps more money than you. My first miss was actually in the UK, Mr Peter Rosenberg pretended to be an 300ZX expert and I blew £12K on this "poor" fellow who closed down his workshop a short while after "finishing" my car. A completely mess.

I see that Kyle has helped you a lot. I use the same heads and specs on these, same cams, valves etc. I can tell you that the heads makes the big difference. Capacity is 750 BHP on each side, total of 1500 BHP. The engine has got a new "division" on levels above 4000 RPM. It is completely wild on high RPMs. This is the biggest difference you will notice and appreciate.

So all credits to Kyle and his job on the heads. :thumbup1:

I use some different types of parts as you, e.g. I use Turbonetics turbos, but capacities on all parts are more or less the same. I do not use NOS, and I use original ECU, it is actually possible to be used up to 1000 BHP. Not very many knows this.

One thing which you might run into as a problem: backpressure. It dependes on the turbo design, but I had to redo the exhaust side of the turbo by porting them. Not a big job, cost is less than $150. Before this, I experienced backpressure from 1,5 bar. After, I blew pressure up to 2,3 bar. At that level, the OEM bearings gave up and are now replaced with ACL. The tuning was also refined after this "incident" and I decreased pressure to 2,0 bar and left it on this max level.

So be aware of the back pressure issue. If you need something to be done here, I can give you contact data on the turbo porting expert. This job should not be left to "anyone".

What do you mean by "96 gearbox"? This is new to me. Is this different from any earlier boxes? My car is a EU version from 1996, do I have this box then?

Awaiting DYNO from you in the near future, MAC 1 will face a big challenge competing with you, it seems. Good luck further, and let us know as soon you have the numbers !!! :thumbup1::thumbup1:

Excellent, totally new to me. I believed they did no changes the last 4 years in production after 1996. It still has 5 gears (only) ?

300bhp at the fly ... stand in my wake hahaha, nah but seriously I'm so jealous of you guys :(

You should have listened to your father when you were a kid; "Save money for a smart car when you get older, and don`t buy sweets........":2guns:

All I know is my car is still top of the board and I haven't even bothered to measure it with the NOS running yet :devil2:

All joking aside there are some cracking cars being talked about here but are they just about the numbers? I could easily get bigger numbers by raising boost but lose the reliabilty. I've done a lot of miles since Dan built this engine and have had no problems apart from the odd pipe coming off under high boost :) I take both my cars out virtually every weekend and enjoy them.

I would definitely be up for a meet with some of the big boys. What about a track day at Silverstone or something like that?? Better still what about joining me one sunday to do some stalking lol.

Hi again Bobgenie;

Relevant an good reflections you raise.....Reliability is important, but I really don`t think enthusiasts here spend a lot of time and money on only short-term joy. This is so expensive so I am convinced that power engines are built to last. At least we must assume this......

To keep you position on the list, do you have any plans to meet the expected engine plans from Madmax and Mac 1 ? In a safe and sensible way of course.......

Im assuming i am "Bass" on your list! I will get mine on a dyno up here in Scotland which is not a hub one to see what it comes out as. The mapping will be getting checked while it is in the garage over the next couple of weeks. I have to agree with Bobgenie that reliability is key as that is what i had in mind with the build as well as driveability.

No. It's unlikely that I'll spend any more on the car. I will be keeping the convertible and next year will be getting a GTR and see what can be done with that. I almost took the plunge last year but decided to enjoy the zed for at least one more year and I'm glad I did :)

Sorry BAZZ; I did not realize until now how your spelling was. Someone came up with your name and your numbers some time ago, I don`t remember who. I`ll correct this.

I am not familiar with this "hub" term for the DYNO. can you explain this and what makes it different from an ordinary DYNO?:confused1:

Actually I know from experience that throwing money at a car is only part of the equation. The criteria that I set for this car were that it would be good for around 3000 miles without the need for service. That I could drive to Scotland and back without worrying about it and that during the trip could take in a track day or a run at the strip if I so chose. I absolutely love driving this car fast on the road but worrying over reliability would reduce that enjoyment tenfold. I'm looking forward to actually making it to some meets this year and getting to know some of the guys and their cars.

Silverstone is absolutely a good idea !

If you accept visit from Scandinavia, 2 good friends of mine have many times suggested to go there. Both have engines > 600 BHP and are true enthusiasts. My engine is in the same class, so all 3 of us would very much like to come and visit you.:clap:

I dont understand the differences either, but it is the reason i am not on the dyno board on the forum.

TBH measuring at the hub is probably a more accurate way of measuring! The wheels are removed & the dyno is bolted directly to the rear wheel hubs measuring the power. It means you get no losses from slip between the tyres & rollers.

Sounds good. I think Silverstone would be the best track for our cars as it's pretty fast without too many tight bends and is nice and flowing. Donington wouldn't be bad either but Silverstone is just about the only track where I haven't fell off my bike so it's OK by me lol. I might enquire if we could hire the track just for a zed fest :)

That is such a good idea if zeds could have an exclusive weekend there !

For us it is perhaps easiest to take the ferry fram Demnark to Harwick, app 100 km northeast of London, not far from Stanstead airport.

Where is Silverstone located?

I think there is SMW1's old car, maxed out the dyno at 550ish BHP Flywheel, not sure if the dyno slip is anywhere to be seen though!

Which unfortunately means that it doesn't currectly qualify up there with the big guns (They are the rules, I know because I made them lol (shot myself in the foot with that one:gun_bandana:).

I really hope that Yewcheck gets it on the dyno when he's sorted the oil leak. I've never seen the extent of what it's capable of but I've always wanted for one of the new owners to get it on the dyno and take it all the way. Unfortunatley the day I got it mapped was also the last day of my ownership so I never got to put it on a dyno that could handle the power.

Will get it dynod when finished, any recommendations?
