from a christian background but I have no beliefs in any greater being(turin shroud was proven to be a fake by carbon dating 1400 years out as I remember as for the rest of it anyone can write a book). However there is probably other life out there somewhere(again not proven).

believe it or not i studied (rs) as an a level and have read the old book a few times but i dont practice any religeon but i do believe in a god or some kind of supernatural being that is there ,but>>>

a , dont believe you have to be part of any particular religeon to have his favour

(i think it causes more issues than it solves)

b, agreed when you die , you die hence the saying "ashes to ashes dust to dust," dont believe you burn in hell either

i do belive there is a god, but i dont care enough to commit my life to any faith, ill just wait and see what happens when i die, all i do know is i certainly wont be alone in choosing that path when i meet my maker.

too true ...why would a forgiving god wish you to spend large parts of your time worshiping him? maybe pop in and say hi every now and then.

agreed , I think as long as you live a law abiding life you stand as much chance !, and besides when you think that the bible has been translated from x , amount of languages from old tounge back to modern tounge

things on the surface can look blurred but dig a little deeper and suprising what you can find !

I'll shut up now lol, as im rarther opinionated when it comes to religeon use to have my RS teacher in knotts:confused:

i dont believe in any gods. when you die that is that.

but i do think that people believe in a god to give them comfort also to make the thought of dieing less painfull

To believe in an all mighty being, that created everything out of nothing, you would be aswell following harry potter as a religion IMHO.

A load of tosh :smash:

dont get me started on god or a lightning bolt will be looking for me later!

why

I'm 100% agnostic. Whilst I don't follow a religion or God, I am open to new experiences. What I see is what I believe, what I don't see, I don't necessarily disbelieve, but I don't believe. Maybe there is a God, but I am sure that when I croke it, I'll find out and I think that's what life is all about.

Religion is a way for people to follow a pathway. Most religions teach you to be a good human being and people follow that. You can be a good human being without following a religion. I also think that most forms of spirituality and well being in a religious sense is a state of sub-conscious thought. I have tried the whole ‘going to church thing’. My parents are religious, but, it doesn’t really do anything for me.

why would a forgiving god wish you to spend large parts of your time worshiping him?

EXACTLY. My point has always been this. If God was in anyway compassionate, would he really want his own creations devoting their lives to him? I think not. God would have to be a pretty retentive being to wish that. I know it's people's choice at the end of the day and that's fine, but I really don't think that God (if he/she/it does exist) would want people doing that.

I'll find out one day what makes everything tick, but until that time, I am not going to try to believe in something that I have absolutely no knowledge about, other than what's written in scripture (reads: 2000 year old story book).

Just wondering also, do animals have spirituality? Do they have a belief, or God? Why did ancient Greece and the Roman empire believe in multiple Gods….LONG before Jesus was supposed to have existed? Did a bible exist before this time?

As for reincarnation, there is absolutely no proof that this would ever happen. But it can’t be disproved either. So, as per the beginning, I am in the middle, don’t disbelieve, don’t believe. We’ll find out though.

why

because religion is just something that can not be discussed without offending one person or another.

1, Greece and Rome's idea of multiple figure heads on statue's etc i should imagine has it's route's in christianity it-self ,

ie- the trinity theory that the farther the son and the holy spirit are seperate but yet one and the same

(NOT WHAT I BELIEVE)

2, The Christian Bible has two main sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is the original Hebrew Bible, the scriptures of the Jewish faith, written at different times between about (1200 and 165 BC)

The New Testament books were written by Christians in the first century AD,

Someone did well in their A-level. Whilst not being religious in any shape or form, I'd actually of quite liked to have taken up RS....or RE when I was at school. I am fascinated by other beliefs and cultures, so it would have been all good for me despite my non-spiritual personality.

I'll put religion in perspective for you all like someone did once for me.

Love and God have much in common. You see, we often use the word love to explain our feelings for another person. The similarities between love and God are that, like God, you can not see, hear or taste love, yet we still know love exists. Many don't know love exists until they feel it in their chests or hearts (whatever lol), so maybe...just maybe, those of you who do not believe in God, just havn't felt him :P. This does sound a bit far-fetched, but it does help explain God and religion to some degree.

Your thoughts please!

No, I haven't felt him/her/it. Have I experienced love? Maybe, but what do I have to compare it to? Not a lot.

and although i dont follow any particular relegion , i did enjoy exploring different beliefs etc and shocked me at how closely linked some of them are:)

I remember RS at school. I always questioned the teacher and I think I did back him into a corner a few times with it all. He was called Mr.Gieron though. lol

Mine was a Mrs Dingle, and she hated when you questioned something or moved away from the text book school of thought !,

think she relised we wanted a more varied experience on world religion in the end and tolerated more than some probably would

All good fun though !
