Since writing off my zed a couple of weeks back in a 50mph spin into crash barriers, i'm a little bit nervous of getting another one :(. I don't want to spend all that money and time only to crash it again! I'd of been fine with it if I had overcooked the throttle and lost control, but I didn't the car just spun out while on mild throttle (and black ice!!).

So, I was looking at the Racelogic Traction control systems. Do these make the zed a bit easier to live with? And are they as good as they say they are? I'm not thinking that this would have stopped me crashing but at the moment I wouldn't feel safe driving one unless it's completely dry.

All opinions welcome.

Cheers

Dave

traction control is a superb addition, but regardless of what you do, nothing will save you on black ice, once its gone, thats it.

there was a group buy on here about 6 month ago, do a search mate, and pm some of the people who bought it, they will be able to give you the most accurate feedback.

Hi mate

I have the basic TC unit without launch control and I think it is awesome. I got it for exactly the same reason you have described as my car is running about 410FWHP and 400FTLBTQ and that sounded pretty scary after the rebuild. I have only had tha car step out on me once and that was in the wet and I had hoofed it, the car was very easy to control when this happened and between me and the TC unit we both made it home in one piece. I would say that it is by far the best mod I have purchased.

I know how you feel mate, Im having second thoughts about another zed. I spun mine and hit a wall(blaming crappy auto for kicking down without warning).

looks like you were running stock wheels and tyres.one of the first upgrades for a zed is wheels that can take a wider tyre.Uk cars came with 245s and jdm cars ran 225 tyres as japanese car makers agreed to only go up to this size at the time and not to use any wheel larger than 16".the zed is way to powerful to run tyre sizes of those dimensions.

I can't speak of experience of driving the Zed without RLTC as I bought it with...but its not once stepped out on me regardless of weather and I've given it some bean in pouring rain (not ice)....I think it certainly adds some comfort and well worth it from what I've heard a Zed is like without...

Dave,

RL Traction control is quite simply the best aftermarket system you can buy. It is used by the likes of Koenigsegg, Ultima & Gumpert to name but a few.

If you require more information or wish to place an order then please let me know - DTA-Motorsport (UK) is an official RaceLogic reseller.

All the best,

Dan

Cheers for the advice folks. Looks like my new zed will have the RLTC fitted.

Dan, Once I get my new zed I'll certainly be giving you a shout for one of these systems.

I've missed out on 2 GB' for this as it's quiet an expensive system... but well worth the cash...

think i might have to look in to this at some point this year....
