Sould this be in the help section???

Do you have a question that can be answered or do you just want to discuss your dismay with your zed?

  • Author

yeah my question is has anybody got a real list of what sensors can be removed to eliminate problem ones such as det and air etc ..

  • Author

as in a full list from start to finish like

1/ remove det put in resistor see image below

2/ remove air flow plug stick in a dog buscuit and just see what happens !!! lol.

that sort of thing ..

Mine's worked for 2 years and yep solid :D (maybe not always 100% sweetly, but never been stranded) When can I pick up my 50K :D

Serious note: Hope you get it sorted! Have you maybe spoken to a specialist - ring someone up - am sure they will be more than willing to help.

replace sensors dont bypass!! they are there for a reason and on a turbo'd car the det sensor is very important!

again no serious issues ive started replacing general service items my self and plan to do a fair bit to the car but not had anything serious go as yet just wear and tear items etc

sorry to hear ur having probs

Speak to a specialist - someone like Jeff @ Zedworld - google them, you'll find their details ;) or I'm sure there are other garages out there that deal with 300zx's.

is there any on this site who can speak more terms than det sensor afm sensor coilpack injector fuel filter idle control etc etc doers anybody acctually know or is the whole 300zx just a game of swap

Have you tried jeff at Z world i've always found him Very knowledgable on the forum and is always happy to help:)

if you get to the next japnortheast meet in sunderland, i could take a quick look at it for ya, im no expert but i may be able to find something that you havent, also paulzx goes to these meets and he may fetch his consult along

if you ask nicely

stella you sound like a desent bloke to me that would probably be a good idea...

you know how it is i probablly know more about mechanics electronics and the such than alot of peeps on her however i think you can see where im coming from for example if a car had a certain misfire you dont just start changing everything in the list until problem solved.. a real professional WILL be able to pinpoint the prob so your idea about grovelling to paul sounds a good one .. i wouldnt mind buying this consult if anybody has it for sale ..

ah and pub man i dont want any greif ok im sure you have lots of windows to install being a computer engineer and all..

the thing with these cars is that several failing/failed sensors can give similar symptoms, there are no crystal ball methods with this complex vehicle, yeah sure you go for the obvious solutions which is where the knowledge of this site comes in. But the next best thing to a crystal ball is to put it on a Consult .

Regardless, it's never let me down once mate. The car has been ultra-reliable.
had mine for a year on the only think tah as gone wrong was the auto box then it was manual time and never looked back:hyper:

Got two- apart from transmission failure on one(and that can happen with most cars)- both run beautifully and everything works!

Own a lot of motors of all types and really dont find these worse than anything else- surprising numbers of alternative sources for reasonably priced spares and loads of info/support out there.

Loads of motors over 5yrs old get increasingly difficult to get spares for, lack info, and their manufacturers are no help- even BMW & Mercedes!

Regards

Ok Robwilde unfortunately you have seen the downside of 300zx early in your ownership but don`t despair.

Many of the members are having various running issues at the moment and as said by others these often are caused by sensors and connections, unfortunately there are numerous permitations of sensor readings, faults, poor connections etc. that can be the cause of your particular issues and yes no doubt there will be similarities between the faults on different car but the actual cause and fix can be very different which is why your getting frustrated by the generalised answers which is very common.

Really the only way way to resolve the running issue is start at basics and move through the electronic diagnostic section by section using a ConZult system.

If I can offer any help it is in the form of a free check and sort out, this at least will identify the problem if not resolve it completely now this is done strictly for subscribed members only, but represents true value for money as it sorts your car and 12 moths FORUM subscription all in one.

Have a good look at your engine wiring loom bud as these cars will be 20 years old next year, there's a good chance you could replace every sensor and electrical component only to find its been the wiring all along as they do become very brittle.

A Zeds for life! Not just for Christmas lol.

nobody ever said any advise was crap jefftt has just outlined the issue many problems are very closly related ...

yes the process of elimination is ok if you have two cars the same but otherwise it could be costly unless you strike lucky and sort the problem earlier rather that later..im sure at some point it would be more sensible to buy conzult ... (in the long run)

which is what im going to do so i know 100% what to fix once im fixed up ill flog it ...

listen to all members who seem to have there backs up chill out nobody is slagging advise cars or anything else off here especially not help ok .. all i simply said it would be nice if we had more definitave answers to probs without conzult but clearly it needs conzult to sort out everybodys problems...

its ok buying conzult but iff you dont know how to read it its a lot of money to sit there scratchin your *****kks....my advice for what its worth is subscribe, fill the tank and get down to take Jeff up on his offer to give it the once over, will still work out cheaper than conzult mate

Misfires are a bitch.

My redzed just started doing it + after pulling off all the injector connectors+ ignition connectors + a thorough clean....it didnt work.Must admit, i wanted to beat it with a hammer at that point, but through that process i found that the missing cylinder had power to the injectors+ a healthy spark, with good compression, meaning a dead injector.

One new 2nd hand injector(£30)+ a bottle of cleaner+ it was faultless for a long time.Try pulling off each coil in turn, seeing if it runs worse.oh yes+ use search.

Thread Has been Cleaned Up, Please Keep on Topic.

Rob...Just some friendly advice mate, There are many helpfull and knowledgable people on here that will be happy to Help you, you just need to ask in a proper manner mate ;)
