Hello folks.

Thats me stuck out at work in the middle of the north sea for xmas and new year, how fun.lol. Not getting home until the 3rd of january:( they got us alcohol free becks tho and gave us the day off so should be fun:rofl:

Anyways...............

I am hoping to be getting a high level rear spoiler, it has a 3rd brake light in it, i was wondering how i would connect this in to my car to ensure it comes on as im sure with the spoiler on and the light not working it is illegal. I have a jap import 1993 incase this comes into the equation.

Cheers Lads

Merry xmas:D

Craig I located the brake light wires inside the drivers side light pod on my car and hooked into the wires, I fused both sides (feed and earth), then ran twin core to the extra brake light in the high spoiler I fitted. Cant remember the wire colours though.

On the contrary. I'd rather be at sea! (used to work there anyway!). The last Christmas I was away, I was bobbing around in the Indian Ocean at the time of the huge Tsunami.

As for the 3rd brakelight. Typically, they are called that in the US as all NA zs and series 3 versions had them. You can opt for the simple perspex strip without the brakelight as they were offered by Nissan also.

Personally, I like the 3rd brakelight, gives it a more modern look. They are nearly double the price though iirc. Approx £45 for the perspex strip and £80 for the perspex strip with the brakelight in it.

Having a third brakelight is not mandatory. Nor is it an MOT test point.

If your car already has a TBL or used to have one, you'll probably find the wiring rolled up behind the bootlid (inbetween skin and frame). It's a simple matter of just plugging in the connector.

ok, i have a jap import so i am not sure of plugs being with the car but i imagine that they would have been made standard with the TBL in the factory spoiler. I will need to check for plugs when i get home but in the mean time if you get a chance over the festive period john300zx could you possibly get some pics of your wiring and label it and send to my e-mail mate. Thats would be great if you could. craig.wright6@gmail.com cheers buddy:D

you should be able to find the exact wires with a testlight/multimeter if you have them. If not I will have a look at my car and see the colours, the only thing being my car is UK spec just in case they are different.

I have never worked offshore but used to be on call normally over new year, annoyong at the time but the money's good.

no problem, i will have a look when hoem for some extra wires john but i dont have a spare light:(

Hi Craig

If you are referring to the spoiler I am selling, the brake light is connected.

If you have just the spoiler, I will leave the bottom quarter of the tailgate attached and this will have the wiring connected in so you will be able to match it to yours- arn't I nice!

Regards

Dave

Awrite mate, i a will have just the spoiler as that all i need, are you separating it from the boot lid tho? the wiring left attached would be great mate. cheers

Craig

There are no extra wires. I hooked into the earth and the brake light feed, using in-line fuses on the feed and the earth side. Overkill maybee but better to just in case any problems.

Hi Craig

Pics as promised of the drivers side rear light from inside the boot. Looks like I fused the feed side and not the earth as stated earlier. Looks like black is earth and red witha green trace is the brake light feed. Hope these help.
