I have done

all the usual removals AIV, EGR, Black canister, Cruise, (ECU is still in the car though, any idea where it is I'll get rid of it), flywheel, suspension, wheels.

AC is still in as is interior and standard seats.

Is there anything else I can look at getting rid of?

Targas?

Bonnet? go carbon?

plastic wings?

rear hatch - can you get a plastic or carbon for a 2+2

spare wheel and tools?

Cheers

There is a 2kg weight fastened to the inside of the boot, behind the plastic trim. Dont know what its for but i took mine off. Also i dont think the carbon bonnet is much lighter than the standard one but stand to be corrected on that one.

depends what you want the car for... if you're not bothered about comfort/ noise then all the soundproofing, obviously a massive saving with aftermarket seats, carbon bonnet is no saving over standard, fiberglass wings... actually, if you search there is a list of things to remove and their weights - may have been posted by getgreddy...

Yep took that out when i was drag racing and the rear wiper arm and motor.

Also took both seats out and had a spare carbon kevlar seat i used when racing. Made a huge difference because those seats way a ton!

The air con pump weighs a huge amount of weight, if you've got targas you don't really need it apart from in the winter when you want to demist

(ECU is still in the car though, any idea where it is I'll get rid of it),

you cant run a car without a ECU ????

you cant run a car without a ECU ????

you can without the cruise control ecu ;)

Thanks all

Thats as much as I'd guessed! I dont want to sacrifice comfort so AC and seats are staying as its a track / euro hooning car that I want.

Boot weight and spare wheel can go. Im more concerned about weight up front as I think the back is pretty stripped already.

Thanks for all your help guys

Pete - a slciktop is a great idea I'm sold! I'm not sure the wife would see it the same way though! :-)

Thanks Jimmy

i'll have a good look over chimbo and see what I can get rid of.

my carbon bonnet will be lighter than standard going off the difference in weight my mates skyline 1 is compared to standard (gtr are ali aswell) mine is still to be made :-( the only prob with having custom made parts is the waiting around.

if you are travelling around europe, you need the spare wheel in or your emergency breakdown cover may be affected

Get the car on a weighbridge to find out where you are currently....even better get it corner weighed.

Ditching the stock seats should be No.1 priority if your looking at weight saving.

You dont have to sacrifice comfort, in fact you can quite easily find seats that are more comfortable than stock, a lot more supportive and a hell of a lot lighter. Stick to Top name brands and avoid their budget options. Try out a load to find the ones that suit you.

I personally wouldn't bother with a CF bonnet, I've yet to see one that is lighter than the already incredibly light stock bonnet, and they never seem to fit correctly either.

There are CF and Fibreglass hatches available....but you need to consider weight distribution. The car is front heavy as standard, and removing a whole load of weight from the rear just makes that worse. It does have the benefit of improving the Centre or gravity though by removing weight from highest point of the car. You could keep the spare wheel and tools to help counter the weight loss.

Z1 can supply the Hatches and T-tops in FRP or CF from Escort Racing. Powertrix racing can supply a hatch also, and there is a Ebay.com supplier too.

You could move your battery to the boot, and replace it for a Lightweight drycell battery. Most batterys tend to be 16-20kg, whereas a Drycell battery is about 6kg

Im 170kg lighter than stock.........which is over 250kg lighter than the average Zed (about the same as 3 Big blokes)

Wow, when you put it simply like 3 big blokes, that is a good weight loss.

ECU is still in the car though, any idea where it is I'll get rid of it
