Well well well....

I have handed in my notice as SE REO, and the Region has been removed from the Area meets section, it's a sad day when the largest reigon on in the club is removed, there is a lack of interest in meets and attendance, My fault and yours, the meets were arranged and no one attended or there was little interest.:cry:

I'm sure in time some one will step forward who cxan liven the region up again, but with my redundancey and moving back up to March full time i am out of the region and too far to be of any use.:nana2:

With my redundncy and me moving back to March full time i am out of the region and too far away to be of any use as a REO.

I have however taken over from Phil (Apache) as the EA REO which is more my area.;)

So i wish you all farewell and see you at the national meets.:D:duffer:

the area has been removed from the region list? great news for us still in the region

It wasn't me that deleted the Area. but TBH the christmas meet was a flop 2 Zed turned up. The end of summer party was cancelled due to lack of interest and even though the monthly meets were set up no one went to them....... The SE region is more interested in the internet forum side of things, don't get me wrong there are ppl that meet up for mini meets but that doesn't need a REO. I know there was an all jap car meet at Bishops Storford every month but haven't seen that advertised in a while.....

If you fancy the role Joel.....lol step up and revive the SE region ;)

great idea..come on joel and step up to the plate my son:)

im not interested in becoming a reo...

though as you say the tbdev meets were a great sucess in this region. unfortunately they moved it and as far as i am aware it seems to have died a death since. it all started by a random person, not a reo, not even a subbed member, sticking a notice up in the correct section every month. the meet became more and more popular as the months went by until such a time where we had our own little meets afterwards.

no doubt, 1 day, sum1 else will want to have a stab at organising a meet or there could be a revival of the tbdev meets/bluewater meets/the on going surrey rolling road meets etc etc... at least give people the option to try?

i fully understand the frustrations involved with a lack of interest but times are always gonna be up and down as far as attendance for meets is concerned... shutting it away surely wont help...

Both the South Yorkshire and South East regions have been removed, as there was NO activity in these area's.

Should things change in the future, then we can activate them, but I saw no reason to keep them cluttering up the forums.

Should it not be down to the SE members ? It was still a place look to see if anything was happening in the area and it had the SE members list there.

Paul

No, the South East members showed very little interest in Meets and forum events, and the REO was banging his head off the wall, so for that reason I removed it, if things change in the New Year (Though I doubt it), I may look at having it switched back on.

Playing devils advocate here, but how wilol you know if its looking any better if there is no south east area for people to try and get meets together in?

They can always post in National Events or the General forums.

Well I showed up to the Last meet as did Tony B.

Others wanted to come and showed interest but due to the timing of the event (6pm on a Saturday) it was a little inappropriate for most.

It did seem a bit of a struggle for Neil to get the numbers in. Hat's off to him for trying. Since we no longer have the SE section I can not look to see what sort of event were held or what the attendance was like. My car was off the road for 3 years so I couldn't attend during this time and neither did I pay much attention to that section while I was Z-less.

I totally disagree with removing the section without consulting the south east members first. This is the members club and ok, not many people attended the meets, but that doesn't mean that they would never attend.

If the numbers were low then maybe we should have found out why first. Maybe South East members just don't like going to a car park, maybe they want something more. What is needed is to try something different. i.e. different timings that will suit the majority (Sunday's around midday is always a good time). Or even a different kind of event altogether. We have brands hatch near us, they may be able to offer track days for us only even an hour slot would be better than nothing. Many Rolling roads near us as well. There's North wealds drag strip and car show.

There's so much that could get attendance up, but even if it doesn't I'd still like the section back even if it's just for me and TonyB :D.

If South East members want it. Bring the section back and I'll step up to the plate as the REO if the members want me to.

Kim, we have a membership and I know this area's meetings have been poorly attended but it would have been better if you asked us what we wanted to do, as I said in my other post it was still a point of contact for the south east members. We are getting new members joining all the time maybe this section will click one day.

..... maybe this section will click one day.

you been taking to the missus then :D

The Virginia Water meet was successful, IIRC there was circa 15 cars at that meet!

The Surrey rolling road day was successful, there was 20+ cars there!

I think it may be poignant to ask what good does it do the club to have an area deleted also why the SE members weren't consulted?

just because theres no activity in a section, why does it HAVE to be removed, it is winter where people either dont want to take their cars out in this weather, or they have other commitments. the south yorks has dissapeared also which is very nice for the members in that area if meets want to be arranged. its ok saying stick it in the general section, it will soon get knock out of sight, hence nobody seeing it. there was also some pics the the SY section that i now dont have access to if needed. i agree with whats been said in this thread, regions should stay there.

Ah you all stepping up now to have your say, but you weren't that bothered though the year when your REO was trying to organise meets etc.

As I said I will reconsider having the section re activated in the NEW YEAR, so if any of you want to put your money where your mouths are, and step up as an REO, then please drop me a PM.

i think what everyone may be trying to say is. why does a section need an REO to be active. i really cant see the point in removing a whole section for members just because its got no REO. thats basically saying to that area members they dont exist.

They may as well not exist in the SE, coz they never got involved in anything, most of them that is. its gone, end of, I will look at reinstating it in the New year. CLOSED
