I am at the point where I want to buy a few more bits for my boost increase early next year. I have new 02 sensors, TPS and CTS. Just need to fit the o2 sensors. Other than that, the car engine is running very well and ConZult is showing me that just one of the O2 sensors is out of range, but I'll be fitting 2, altong with new CTS. TPS has now been set up as that wouldn't respond in adjustion to voltage reading. New NGKs are on the way. I am wanting to make sure the engine is running 101% via conZult (and emissions test) before I even think about changing the chip and upping the boost.

Once this is done, I want to upgrate the filters. Now, aim to fit a chip and boost controller and will be running 14PSi MAX.

What's the ideal filter for this. I'd like an Apexi Power intake as they seem to be the filter of choice. Would a single filter be adequte for that power or would I need a dual?

I'm not intending on upgrading further, so don't really need to fit things that may be overkill for me.

Hi Simon,

First of all, your NGK's are currently enroute for delivery at some point next week (depending on how long customs hold on to the consignment this time ... they seem quite back-logged at the moment :()

Secondly, a single A'PEXi will be more than adequate for your goals. I would even go as far as to say that using a dual filter installation (but through 1 MAF) is a false economy because no matter how many filters you stick on the end of 1 MAF you can still only pass a finite volume of air through it at any one time. If you were aiming for say 500bhp plus then at that stage I would suggest you opt for a propper Doolz double intake system with two filters and two MAFs. You'll then require a stand alone engine management system as well.

So, in conclusion - one A'PEXi cone filter is what you need. Let me know if you want to send you one (@ £62.50) together with your NGK's.

Cheerio!

My car is far from stock and I wanted a boost upgrade since day one.

Si that just means it will get dirty faster..but another angle would be iff you get there faster it gives you more time to clean it:D;)

ps...single apexi mate,quality pure quality

Will get dirty faster?

On previous cars, I've never really thought that after market filters were anything to scream about, infact, in some respects, I found them sucking in more hot air. Not a problem with the Z due to location, but the reason I want it is purely to compliment the other things I'm going to do, so not expecting anything from fitting one.

I can go along with that all the way, but like you said.. due to the location on the zed it does add noticably better throttle responce.

Ok Si - have made the amendment in the order book and will ship out as soon as the NGK's are here. Can you PM me your delivery address please and also how you'd like to arrange payment and I'll get the ball rolling.

Thanks!
