my zed has a wheel size of 275/35/18 (rear)and i need two new tyres (rear). what tyres should i get and where from?

Featured Replies

That's tyre size, not wheel size. What width are you wheels? That will dictacte what width tyre you can go for. Do you want to know what brand is the best or what is the ideal tyre size for your current rim?

To be honest mate, your going to get so many suggestions, your head will spin.

I think the most popular are:

Michelin Pilot Sport 2

Bridgestone RE050

Toyo Proxes T1-R

Continental Sport Contact 2

Falken FK452

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3

Personally ive ran the falkens for the last year, and for a budget performance tyre, theyre pretty dam good, but dont seem to give the same feedback that the higher end tyres do.

Ive just had the PS 2's fitted today, and they feel really good so far, but time will tell.

TBH it depends on you budget. Try Camskill or http://www.tyretraders.co.uk, theyre the two cheapest places ive found for tyres

If it brand you are wanting to know which is best i would swear by either Toyo Proxes or Falken Tyres my personal opinion.

Used Proxes on many cars but they will wear out quicker but will give you uber grip

Falken 452 are the best value IMHO

Toyo and Goodyears best for wet and dry and bridges best for the dry michelins too expensive and contis very noisy IMHO again

im running Avon ZZ3s at the moment on my 18s, but Ive got Nexens on my 19s in the garage - probably not as good as the Avons but they're 10mm wider

the best tyres i had for grip wet and dry where yoko parada spec 2 but i dont know if they do them in that size

I agree 100% with Nick here. Everyone runs different tyres, some fools even run radials. But it's up to the individual at the end of the day.

Nick has listed some of the most popular ones which are know from experience. I personally run the Goodyears and have done since I bought the car. I love them to bit so I haven't bothered trying anything else.

Pick one from the list above and you can't go wrong.

im running r888's but just put mine through a fence so discount those! lol

lol, what happened?

heres my take on tyres...

i dont drive my zed alot so dont need to replace the tyres too often. for this reason, when i do replace them i dont worry too much on cost. from my research the most expensive tyre that you can fit are the pilot sport michelins and they really are superb... however, they are very soft wear worryingly quick.

i personally run goodyear eagle f1 assymetrics on mine... i did quite a bit of research into it before buying them and according to my findings the performance was as good if not better than the ps2's but they lasted longer and most importantly are a fair wedge cheaper! as a performance tyre, i rate them as the best all rounder and vfm.

my last zed was a daily drive and i used to use mid range tyres on that. i tried falken fk452 but thought they were pants (though as a daily drive, plenty acceptable)... i tried kumho ecstas which, imo were better, but i never really found a mid range tyre that i was ovally impressed with. i guess really you pays ya money... but its finding the balance between how much money you spend on the tyre and how far they take you.

oh and i buy all my tyres from camskill (click for 275/32R18 selection) as i have not yet found anywhere to make the price or service and have them fitted locally

I have just had Goodyear eagle F1's Asymetrics fitted and the z feels lovely, very happy with them, feel great and grip well:hyper:

cold tyres?? 888s need quite a bit of heat in them...

Hmmm... got point, i thinking of getting them

GY F1 cant go wrong

r888 wear rates are really fast

Because they are Road Legal Slicks tyres meant for track days, that you can use to get the car to and from the track legally.
