Performance Air Filters

Can you buy any air filters to help the car sound more powerful?

most induction kits will add a bit of induction noise and a slight gain in bhp

there are various makes etc for the 300

the other option if u want to keep the original air box set up would be something like the k&N panels that just sit in>>

(i dont think this will provide any change in sound though?)

so for a better sound i would have to modify the engine? What to you mean the air box mate? I was just thinking of the y tube and filter under the nose panel, thats what i was thinking about could that possibly be changed for a better sound or performance?

the standard air box would be removed if u wanted to fit a induction kit, i plan for an apexi, but there are other makes avail just make sure u go for a quality cone not sponge !

and as regards a nice gruunt and uprated performance

a induction kit would be a good but small first step

hth

i already have an apexi air filter in the car

yes the actual filter off the y tube is an apexi filter.

ok no bother then mate.lol. Just someone at work has a type r and was on about performance filters to make his car sound alot better etc etc etc.lol

You dont get a lot of induction noise with a filter change on the 300zx, unlike other cars where the noise difference can be very dramatic.

because we have a powerful sounding car already:D!

lagrath is right, i only noticed a slight noise on my old NA but on the TT, nothing

on every other car ive owned the noise increase has been extreme

You could have two apexi's like mine...double the noise!

glenn your setup is restrictive, the maf is like a bottle neck

Silverbullet your setup is spot on, unrestrictive and equal

Glenn's is only meant to be an improvement over any single cone set up and it is.

Not only is the MAF still in the standard location meaning the pulsed signal from the ECU is the same strength, the air gushing in has a few ins to channel before entering the MAF too.

A design taken from HKS which is shown to work and be better than any single cone on the market.

Silverbullets and Steve's is totally different and meant to be as high performance as possible and thats only acheivable by removing the MAF on high powered cars and they have achieved that and removed the MAF... Anything under 450ish (at the wheels) is not worth doing it with.

Maybe I'm being retarded, but what's this?? Is it a series 2 PTU turned upside down or something? Not having a series 2 PTU, I am not 100% sure what they look like.

That was my guess before scrolling down:D

but does it get wet?

is that the filter or the ptu (or both!!!)

with my vented panel, yes the filters get wet and you get limited to 4000rpm, not had a problem with the ptu there.

sorry if you weren't talking to me! lol
