When dump valves release pressure, should they open and close immediately, or do they open and release and slowly close? Also, while watching them (blitz on hard pipes) when they released pressure, they would close and then slighty move again when the revs hit 1000, is this right? Thanks Barry

THIS THREAD IS NOW CLOSED AN OFFICIAL THREAD ON THE 'GROUP-BUY' FORUM WAS OPENED 11TH SEPTEMBER. PLEASE JOIN US THERE. I have been trying to get a set of indiglo dials for my imported manual non-turbo Z32 for a sensible price. I have searched the forum and found at least three attempts this year to set up a group-buy for these. They all seem to have fizzled out so now I intend to organise a successful group-buy myself. I have spoken to the manufacturer, mygarage-Glasgow, and they will make us a minimum quantity of twenty, ALL OF ONE DESIGN, for a price of £55 to £59 incl. delivery (let’s assume £60 maximum). By ‘one design’ I think I could persuade …

Hello everyone reading this. As you have seen, my TT was on the forum for sale, and dgsignmakers, George, came all the way down to me today, on the train, from Sunderland. Whilst on road test with him, for some reason, the turbo pressure spiked, and then behind us came that heartbreaking, and familiar blue 'haze', which wouldnt go away!! As of yet, not sure what happened, but sadley it would seem, we all know what the outcome looks like. Fair play to dgsignmakers, because if I had travelled that far, I wouldnt have been happy, he didnt scream, or shout, I cried!! The car is now on its way to Southwestzeds, where hopefully it will be sorted, obviousley a pair…

Hi all, ive had a missfire for a while now, so thought i ought to get to the bottom of it! I replaced the plugs that were 10k overdue, then replaced the injector plugs, as i knew they were crap anyway. The missfire still persists though, could it be a coil? (most rear n/s plug was noticeably lighter in colour too) Also the revs used to go higher on its initial startup, but now it just goes straight to normal idle speed in a slightly lumpy fashion! Dont mention compression please! :nono: Cheers Steve

Hi having wanted a Z since the age of 14 ive now got one 10yrs later. Its a 91 Uk manual twin turbo. Its got 118.000 miles with a full dealership history up till 109.000 with 6000 mile intervals and a complete engine out rebuild at 98000. So hopefully it wont be one of the bad ones i have read so much about...... but!! What i want to know is what kinda oil/air filters do i use? The best plugs for it? The best Oil semi/full for it? etc. Im aware that they cannot be treated like a poormans super car and im fully prepared to maintain it, I need to know what the majority of you guys use on your Z's? My friend works for a local Mitsubishi dealership where he services e…

I've got new front disks which do not seem to fit properly. The disks I have are the correct size 280 X 30 and the correct PCD, but as soon as I put them on and tighten the calipers, they bind to the calipers and do not move. I have measured the disks that were on and they are 280 X 26 (a bit too worn). Surely no one would do a brake downgrade! Could it be that my calipers have misshapen somehow? I am now at a total loss. I have a 90 Import NA, could this be the reason. Perhaps different size disk/caliper. Colin

Hi, any ideas what could be causing my car to use so much petrol? It's using £15 a day to cover about 15 - 20 miles, it stumbles at low revs when the throttle is only half open, but it's fine at WOT. It intermittently has a warning light: Once it's warm it pops when you come off the throttle... alot. It had a replacement engine abou 2000km, everything was fine then, the engine has 60k on it. It's a 92 NA with a Blitz ECU (mapped to the old engine) not sure if anything else has been changed.

Now that i have found out what the zed has wrong, its seems the heads are shagged, is it worth rebuilding the existing, new seats, valves, seals etc and skimming or just go and get new already done, Are new ones the most cost effective in time, but cost a few more quid, Are the engines of safe design? as in have zero compression on the heads, is it likely the valves had wacked the pistons? any advice would be greatfully recieved.
