General Discussions - 300ZX Related

As title suggests...........I may be moving to a different office with work in the near future, and I wouldn't want to be drivin the TT 50miles a day :nelson: just for the sake of the cost of fuel, insurance and that I don't want to run up ridiculously high miles in it so, i'm thinkin it would probably be better to buy a nice N/A (prob under a grand :hyper: ) and use that. Good idea or bad? :confused: anyone else doin it?

are the short shifters i keep seeing for sale actually shorter in length or just made different so they shift shorter - also how hard are they to fit cheers guys :confused:

Looking through the autotrader got me thinking really. I never see a 99 spec reared zed on there. I reckon that if you were selling your zed it may be worth fitting some 99 spec rears first. They must take off about 5 years with regards to how it looks and just generally look loads better. 250 quid to maybe get 500 quid more? What do you guys think?

i was wondering what wheels would be your choice as i bought my zed with 285/30/18 bsa manix's and as they more kerbed than a kerbcrawlers i bought some original zed alloys off ebay i drove the car for the 1st time on the originals and it drove amazing rode over bumps and was so smooth now im wondering if i should flog my 18s once they've been refurbed or put them back on

i have bought my second zed (look at dann172 on cars for sale) £2400!!!!!!!! engine done 2k engine rebuild cost nearlt £6000. the number plate and wheels are new and worth more that £3000. what is happening to zed prices, obviously im made up with the price but come on STOP SELLING . More zeds that are on the market then cheaper they have to go. The 300zx is a classic sports car. I would say classic super car. if people stopped selling so cheap then people will be forced to pay more. DO I HAVE A POINT OR AM I WAFFLING SHITE

I'm sitting at the Mac listening to some music and thought, that's weird i can't remember there being a car horn on this track. No it's my car deciding to short circuit and start pipping the horn repeatedly. Had to go out and rip the steering wheel apart to stop it. What the fook is going on? lol

Hi All, Things were looking up as i got the major water leak sorted.. and now the gearbox has died.. question is.. Should I get a new autobox or should i just sell up the car.. i paid £1250 for the car and now im beginning to realise it was this for a reason and i been stitched up lol, the engine and turbos on the car are good as is the interior and it has a nice set of wheels on it.. question is where do i go from here? do i take it to a garage and get a new gearbox and get the leaks fixed.. which to be honest is going to cost me a lot more than what i paid for the car? or do i sell it and cut my losses and get something else?

when i drive at 70 or over i get a very faint "bong'' noise, the same as when you leave on the lights and open the door, any ideas what it may be? I own a 1990 J-spec NA Auto

So does anyone konw any good bodywork places I can go to to get a small dent in the door knocked out & maybe a bit of touch up paint. Think I'm gonna have to get the whole car resprayed cos 2 weeks before this incident some twat drove into my bumper (long story) but I have no details of the guy so have to get a new bumper & I'm guessing the paint won't quite match

My Do-Luck double six champagne wheels are due from Japan next week :nana2: Anyways, rears are 18x10 and fronts 18x9, Mike did tell me which tyre sizes to go for but i forgot, so would 275-35-18 and 245-40-18 seem okay chaps ? Am not looking to stretch the rubber or owt. ta smithy

car went in today for final tune after rebuild and running in period.anyway managed to get hold of hks f-con v-pro and when they hooked it up to the computer it would not comunicate they said that they have the 3.23 hks software and that i had the version 3 ecu and the new software can't comunicate with old if thats makes sense.does anyone know of a tuner that has old software apart from abbey motorsport as thats where it is now.really want to sell it on but not if nothing can be done with it as brought a new one that i know will work any advice welcome Thanks Rob

I will be needing new front tyres soon, I currently have the following fitted; Front; 225/40/18 Conti Sportcontact. Rear; 255/35/18 Michelin Pilot Sport. My wheels are 18x8 Mania Racing split rims (I think). Being an ex fastfit manager I always rated Michelin, but have be finding them a bit twichy on the rear. So would like some advice on whether I should go for Michelin all round, or if money was no option what would be the best for keeping me on the straight and narrow?

Are these anything to worry about? The 130 is a little low isnt it? no1, 160 no2, 140 no3, 150 no4, 130 no5, 140 no6, 130 Cheers

I have a problem with the stereo and DVD screen in my dash.... They are Jap items and therefore the facias don't come off, great!! This isn't a prob while it's at my place but if I take the car anywhere else then the units are on full diplay to everyone. :mac1: Does anyone know if you can get a cover that would go over the top of both the unit's to keep them hidden. I notice there is a recess there so I thought you might be able to get like a face place or something. Cheers Chris

hi in my last Series 2 Z it had the Bose system as far as I remember it sounded pretty good Ive just took the centre dash out and previous aftermarket unit as only one speaker was working and i have a DVD head unit to fit :eek: every wire has been chopped apart from the power plug wires and two cut and shut wires to the drivers door speaker.. is it worth me wiring up all the centre BOSE thing again?? ta chris
