General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi im hoping someone can help me? I have a Ab-flug front bumper that had a few stress marks in. So the guy repairing the body work on my car said he would repair it by sanding the bumper back down to bare fibre glass and repair it. Well after he finished i couldnt believe my eyes he had attacked it with a D.A sander:rant: Now the bumper has lost its curves and in some places flattened parts off where lines and details where. And in places the fibre glass is so thin its impossible to try and re-shape. The guy is now trying to avoid me and im really getting pi$$ed off! Is there anywhere or anyone who maybe be able to save it?? Cheers Dan

Can anyone help with this problem? Car is NA, manual with Blitz cans. Just been in France for past week, car was running fine until late Monday night. Just paid at toll and accelerated away through 1,2 & 3 to avoid other cars, then got up to cruising speed, about 90 mph, not long after problems started. When I release throttle just a fraction, the noise from exhausts was very loud and bad vibration, release throttle totally noise stopped, accelerate and hold at cruising speed ok - just when I released a fraction. Brought myself a really nice Kenwood last week, but having some trouble. Its keeps going into protection mode everytime i use a button or switch in the car eg windows. Took the head unit out to see if any crossed wires but there wasnt any. put it all back together now ive lost my ignition feed to the unit and the rear amp? is there a fuse for these? been looking to change my standard fit jap radio cassette for a nice shiney double din head unit spoke to the guy in the shop an he wasn't sure if it was possible, has anyone done this to there's and if so where can i get the parts cos I'm getting tired of yokahama fm an u cant buy new cassettes nowadays lol.

Finally got the car out of the garage today for a trip out for the annual health check. Passed with flying colours :hyper::hyper::hyper: Couldn't believe that I've only done 620 miles since last August :shock::shock: That makes the cost per mile for the past year unthinkable.

How would I go about respraying my own Zed? What do I need and do you have any tips? Any other non-professional done it to their own car? What were you experiences? I want to do a top notch job obviously, so how do I do it? And what do I do if I go wrong? Thanks guys.

I will be getting my car back soon from Z Tech who is installing a new engine, all parts are being upgraded eg turbos, injectors etc, so their will be a lot more power than stock, I can not yet afford upgraded smic's, will it be ok to drive the car with stock ic's as long as I take it easy?

Morning, Went down to the bodyshop to check the progress of my car (should finally have primer this week). Thing is they're trying to tell me my front Stillen polyurethane bumper is rubber and they will have problems painting it. Anyone ever heard such rubbish before? Vijay

No more multicoloured Z folks. All the panels have now been painted red. This is not the finished product by the way, just a step closer. It will be going for a FULL respray sometime over winter and I need to do a few jobs to make it look better like removing the black line and polish up the older paintwork.

The shell of the Zed was collected. 5 blokes, some railway sleepers and a lot of bruit force and it was on!! I don't think I will be buying another for some time. I do miss it but it's nice driving round not wondering what's gonna break next! I still have loads of bits to sell so I will be hanging around for a while longer yet. I finished fitting some of my new suspension parts and Big Brakes today :D I got the K-Sport 330mm 8-Pot set-up, they look superb :D I am bedding them in at the mo' so can't really comment on the performance yet, but i'm sure they'll be great, everyone i have talked to have said they are beltin' :D What d'ya reckon :D

I've had my car back for a couple of weeks now and TBH not driven it much as it has had a lot of work done recently. Today i have finished fitting my new suspension and brakes and i was driving it back from my friends and when i was nearly home the revs went upto 2000rpm and would'nt come back down, which was quite un-nerving! And then when i pulled over and put it in neutral it idled at 2500rpm! It did this the other day when i took it for a quick run round the block after its MOT. Hi, I live in the south East. My question is of confidence. I recently lost my Zed in a spin, did not do too much damage, but it scared the hell out of me. The roads were a bit damp and although I know they are twitchy when wet, it gave me no clue as to when I was about to loose it. Is there anywhere I can take my Zed to try it out in wet conditions to make it slide so I can get the feel of it, and to perhaps help me get a bit of confidence back?
