crime doesnt pay...? rich pickings indeed for one lucky house-breaker this weekend gone Thieves steal one-eyed hamster A hamster was stolen when thieves broke into a flat in Worcestershire. The pet, called Lassie, has ginger and white markings and a permanently closed left eye. It was taken from Old Ford Walk, Stourport-on-Severn. Thieves forced the wooden door of the first-floor flat open some time between Friday evening and Monday afternoon, police said. A games console, a television and half a bottle of milk were also taken - along with the hamster's cage. :D:mac1:

This really makes my blood boil!! Can never understand why or how someone could do this to an animal. At what point do you look at it and not think to yourself I'm wrong for doing this and get some help? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1104209/Cruel-dog-owner-starved-German-Shepherd-Hobo-point-death-banned-owning-pets-25-years.html Glad he's with a loving family now but the sick ex owner gets a ban - great! She should get some sort on punishment that would actually hurt her!!!! Rant over - just!

http://www.sciam.com/article.cfm?id=when-used-cars-are-more-ecofriendly Dear EarthTalk: Is it better to drive an older, well-maintained car that gets about 25 miles per gallon or to buy a new car that gets about 35 miles per gallon? -- Edward Peabody, via e-mail It definitely makes more sense from a green perspective to keep your old car running and well-maintained as long as you can‚ especially if it's getting such good mileage. There are significant environmental costs to both manufacturing a new automobile and adding your old car to the ever-growing collective junk heap. A 2004 analysis by Toyota found that as much as 28 percent of the carbon dioxide e…

Jesus did anyone watch this? Interesting documentary but truly troubling to watch especially in Vietnam when they were watching the dogs being transported and butchered. Very distressing as a dog and cat lover but as the program points out every country grows up with different things viewed as food. We're very privileged not to have to eat beetles, cats, dogs, elephant. The worst however was when they visited a group eating monkey which when they're skinned look just like human babies, horrible horrible program but as I say very enlightening. Question is would you eat any of the above?

Bloody jeep failed the NCT (equivalent of UK's MOT) this morning on account of damage to the outer wall of one of the tyres. Debatable as I had a guy who sells tyres look at it before and he believed it to be ok. Anyhow looking for a replacement 315/35R20 to get the test. Saw a Lexani on a UK website for around £100 which is very cheap considering the fact that I was asked over €400 for a Michelin over here. Anybody any experience with this brand previously. I'm not sure but they may be American. Can't find out much on the web. Thanks C

Hi all, A bit of an odd question from my corner of this mad world today. The battery in my wife's MX5 has "just" not enough power to start it up after sitting for a couple of weeks in the cold. It's got about 11.8V across the terminals which I guess isn't quite enough to get the engine going. I've got a very old battery charger but I'm not sure if it works properly. It doesn't have any LED's or meters to show it is working. I've just plugged it into the mains and the output is about DC0.23V regardless of whether it's set to "Low" or "High". Does this sound right? I was under the impression that (car)battery chargers put out a lot more than that. Also, I can't get any…
