Anyone know why Ferraris and the like, rarely (if ever) have turbos ? They tend to generate high power simply by large cc's and good tuning. Is it a purist thing about the power being less predictable and the 'problems' of turbo-lag ?

Hired a Corsa for the weekend (visit to Northern Ireland). Great fun ! Hacking around deserted lanes covered in mud. Looked like a rally car when I took it back. I know it doesn't have mega power but it reminded me how much fun it can be to get back into a car which you can throw around and have some fun in without being scared of the results. One question though. I couldn't find the white cap in it anywhere. I thought they came as standard for driver and passenger. Like airbags. Or is it a cost option ? Dave

Walkin through Newcastle today after the match and noticed another new 'NO CAR' lane right in a really busy spot that i sometimes use, loads of cars stuck bumper to bumper while this lane stood empty. These b*****ds have no right to stop people using existing roads that have been paid for over and over again by the motorist. Also in some places they block pave some sections of road and remove the kerb stones so stupid dithering t***s wander around on them daydreaming with their push chairs and bags of shopping, even though it is still a road. Run the B*****s over thats what i say!!!! Roads for cars Pavements for pedestrians too many stinkin tree huggers …

A Scotsman, an Italian, and an Irishman are in a bar. They are having a good time and all agree that the bar is a nice place. Then the Scotsman says, "Aye, this is a nice bar by the way, but where I come fae, back in Glasge, there's a better wan. At MacDougal's, ye buy a drink, ye buy anoer drink, and MacDougal hesel will buy yir third drink!" The others agree that sounds like a good place. Then the Italian says, "Yeah, dat's a nice-a bar,but where I come from, dere's a better one. In Roma, dere's dis place,Vincenzo's. At Vincenzo's,you buy a drinka an Vincenzo buys you a drinka. You buy anudda drinka an Vincenzo buys you anudda drinka." Everyone agrees that sound…

The other day I was cruising along as usual in my BMW coming onto one of my motorways, which was very busy with inferior cars. First off, I couldn't believe that the volume of traffic DIDN'T slow down for me AT ALL as I came off the slip road! I had to squeeze into a barely big enough gap between two cars in order to get onto my motorway! (The driver of the car behind me did realise his mistake though and honked an apology to me with a long blast of his horn.) Unbelievably, I had to do the same again before I could get to the BMW lane. (Why do underlings use this lane? Surely everyone knows it is for BMW drivers only?) Anyway, once I was in the BMW lane and posing a…

Right - I'll start us off....(the idea is to add your own truly amazing story/fact) A woman was so angry at a Mountain Lion which attacked her young son that she fought the lion with her bare hands (as far as my facts are correct) for 2 HOURS !! She eventually died from her injuries, but you gotta admire the woman. Just goes to show........don't mess with a woman !!;)

Right seeing as the goodwill season is approaching it might be a good time to yell for who you think has helped keep your car going over the past year or two. I don't want negativity here! Please! Just who you think has helped you or supplied you with products, good deals etc. NO slagging off here or sarcastic comments please, just who you think has seen you right. As this will help any newbies aswell. I would like to thank the following... GPS, Johnny and Latz are a force to be reckoned with in terms of supplying quality products at low prices for our cars. Nice one. Macca, for helping get my car sorted with his never let up style and attitude to…

Is it me or are shops getting stuff in earlier and earlier. Walking round town last week (about the 18th Nov) and the Xmas decorations where up and "Im dreaming of a white christmas" was blasting through the tanoy. Christmas was over a month away. The weather was warm but wet and leaves where on the trees. Thats not Xmas. Tesco have had Xmas trees and lights for sale in October. I remember because they where next to the halloween costumes. Am I the only one who thinks that Xmas should stay in December? I know people who wrote out all their Xmas cards last week I have seen decorations up in houses already. I think we should just bring it all forward to Oc…

Or are we on a one way path down the sh*tter? While getting ready to come to work tonight I hear about 15 kids(7-11yr olds) fighting outside, one of them picks up a dustbin and hurls it into the street. Then the rest of the inbred little vermin follow the leader an start throwing more dustdins into the middle of the road and start kicking them about, prompting me to open the window an tell the little t*ssers to "GET THE F*CK AWAY FROM MY HOUSE!", off they scarper when a couple of my neighbours come out also. Now this made me think, when these little f*ckers have kids what the hell are their kids gonna be upto. Nowadays kids hang around after midnight a…

Most cars don't have it, most 300's have a 2 setting setup and some cars (Ferrari's, new Hondas etc.) have continuously variable valve timing AFAIK. My question is, does neone know how much all this affects performance. Does it only matter at really high revs, and is there any way to compensate for not having it ?
