make sure you cut back as far into the loom as the leads on the new plugs will let you,ie if the new plugs ahve a 6" lead .. cut back 5" on the original loom.. dont cut the full 6" as you'll lose an inch on the joint, this will help, as u generaly find at the end of an old wiring loom the cable can be slightly off coloured/ corroded and make sure you slide the heatshrink on before you solder and if there is corrosion on the cable .. use some electricians flux,availabe from somewhere like Maplins. not plumbing flux as it can badly corrode cables after a short time John

Not a good idea bud .. you want your main fuse for any additional wiring as close to the battery as possible .. pref in the engine compartment
