it is NOT a testable item, it may very well be a legal requirement, it is not something you can fail an MOT on link to online testers manual

Just Passed
they should be subject to a BET (basic Emission Test), if they pass then all well & good, if they fail then they should be tested as a non cat car (up to 95 models). see my write up in the FAQ section ;)

Rear Diff
if youre replacing the gears, ensure whoever fits them knows how to setup the pre-load on the diff or they wont last very long! ;)

Misfire (Again!!!)
there you go: http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CP&Product_Code=22020-00Z32 $180, or about 5p at the current exchange rates!!! :D

Misfire (Again!!!)
not quite, inside the series 1 ptu are lots of very fine soldered wires, vibration (& age) cause these to break. they tend to show up when hot due to expansion (they break contact when hot, then make contact again when cold), tho this isnt always the case. i bought my series 2 PTU from Courtesy Nissan in the states for around $170 IIRC. a lot cheaper than here in the UK!

0-60 in 7 secs for a TT UK Auto?
LOL!! there have been so many different 0-60 times & power figures for uk/imports, manual/autos, TT/NA's that i think they just make them up as they go!! dont worry about printed figures & go enjoy :)

Advice on buying a 300ZX
all are 3.0 V6 3d, & 99% are targa tops too!, there are a few rare convertables & slick tops. the 280bhp version is the good old Twin Turbo model. available in UK & Import models (a few differences between the 2, the biggest problem is some insurence co.s dont like imports & either charge a premium or refuse to insure at all!) check out our for sale section as buying a members car is prob the safest bet :)

battery!
most decent garages should have a battery load tester to confirm if the battery is ok ar not. a nice easy cheap way of testing the battery is to get a battery hydrometer which measures the specific gravity of the acid indicating charge levels ;) also checking the voltage output is not the best way of testing an alternator. charge rate is in amps, which should be tested with a (heavy duty) ammeter :)

Xenon bulbs on ebay
kinda, xenon lamps do draw a lot less current (once running) Mercs have even started to fit them to instrument clusters now in their persuit for less currant draw  . dash bulb goes & you need a new cluster :smash: they last so long because there is no filament to burn out as in a conventional bulb

I've found this place to get tyres from y'see.
only thing i would say is that a lot of tyres from part worn traders come from cars that are written off, many having damaged structure that you cant see. just be careful!
