NO! the 1st number is the oils viscosity when hot, the second is the viscosity when cold. a 10W40 oil has the same viscosity as a 10W60 oil when HOT!

its usually the drive INSIDE the starter, rather than the teeth on the gear itself. pull the starter off 1st to check for signs of damage to the ring gear, otherwise it'll prob be the starter

when they 1st came out i was working for a VW garage, we also owned a Nissan garage which was opposite. 1 of the techs brought one into the workshop one day & i just had to have one :)
