Have you checked the fuses and is it earthed properly? IIRC my stereo was earthed to the chassis of the car, i.e it had a seperate earth strap between the body of the head unit and the chassis.

Which stereo is it? If you can't get it to work and you wanna keep the standard gear I have a the original Radio/Cassette and seperate CD player form my Z. YOu can have em lol

S14 is ugly from the front IMO, S14a is much nicer looking. RX7 is a nice car too!

I'd go for the S14a 200sx. I was actually looking for one of these before I bought the Z. Nice cars IMO. The GT4 is a nice car but as you've discovered finding a good one at a sensible price is pretty hard.

yeah, apparantly it's the supercharged 1600 that was in the early MR2's. this one has a LOT of money thrown at it too. The car itself looks fairly standard, just a set of alloys and a bigger exhaust. Brilliant street sleeper
