My advice is do what my brother did when he started playing. Get a cheap strat squire copy with a practice amp, a cheap £100 effects box and that should last you a year or so and by then you'll start to know whether it's worth spending more or not. Learn to play tabs and scales and you'll be laughing. I have a Burns Marquee S in Green (Gaz Combes Supergrass special) and the brain may Red Special which are beautiful guitars but my brother has 10 all in all including a one off hand made electro acoustic, les paul studio in cherry red, a gretch and two ibanez.
