V8 Update - March
Yum yum :D lol I can't wait to see what the difference between ours when they're both on the road. The sound of two V8 zed's with exhaust cut out valves tearing it up the strip is going to be immense :hyper:

V8 Update - March
Every night i'm on youtube trying to work out what it's going to sound like. The solid mechanical rollers and the cam are going to have the biggest effect on the idle and how quick it revs. Should sound like a nascar and have a slightly lumpy idle but not too bad. I can't wait for that moment mate, knowing i've built my first engine and it runs'll bring a tear to my eye  When yours is warmed up though i'm guessing it smooths out?

Left hand side: And when they're clean :D

would these look good
The two kerbs are on the left hand side, neither wheel loses any air:

would these look good
lol, have a look at them first buddy. As i say one is kerbed but doesn't lose air, the other 3 have little marks here and there but over all they look good. If they were perfect i'd want 400 quid :D I'll give them a clean and see what you think but if you still want them after that then either cash on collection or bank transfer + delivery is fine with me buddy?
-
would these look good
Yeah about 4mm on the back (michellin as far as i remember) and 5-6mm on the front? 225 front and 275 rears, grip the road brilliantly and the bigger profile on the back is actually quite comfortable

V8 Update - March
I'm as excited about John's being finished as my own  I think it's going to be a close run thing on volume! 3 inch twin exhausts on mine with a cutout valve before the silencer and 4-5inch on John's as far as i remember? I think it'll be close buddy  Definately, as soon as it's on the road i'll be all over the country racking up the miles to bed that engine in for the drag racing lol Only 3 thou between the bore and the tang so it's going to be a very tight engine and need quite a bit of running in before i can use it :( BUT means it should last 200,000 miles instead of 40,000 before a rebuild

Whenever you're ready mate, they're just sitting on the car at the moment. The rears are a little large 275/40/R18s so on stock suspension fine but you'll need to roll the arches if your lowering the car. I'll give them a wash and get some pictures tomorrow if i get a chance

Its easy to forget how fast the Zed is!

V8 Update - March
I have every intention of getting you to detail this mate :D After i've had the 99 spec bumper put on and the stonechip paint smoothed off all round along with the smooth nose panel and the 99 spec spoiler i'd love you to get it to show standard :D Feel free to grab a beer with me anytime buddy, in fact come up and have a luck when you've got a moment it's sitting in my driveway at the moment and you're not too far. I'm in North Kilworth near market harborough?

V8 Update - March
If i'd done it from scratch just the components i got with the project would have set me back nearly 7k :x: Forged stainless crankshaft, con rods, forged pistons, two inlet manifolds, starter motor, holley fuel pump, every bolt i'd ever need in stainless, powersteering pump, hooker headers, the list goes on! If you were to do it from scratch even with the shell you'd be talking 10-15k with the quality of the parts he used.

V8 Update - March
The swb shell with all the interior reupholstered, brand new everything (zed related), the engine block, the gearbox, brand new pistons, crank, con rods, manifolds, etc was a very sweet deal in my favour. To put it in perspective you couldn't buy a running TT for what i paid for the whole project. The heads cost me £780 from the states, the edelbrock carb cost me £150. The remaining parts are going ot have cost me £2000 and the exhaust would have been £1500 if i hadn't have been owed a favour. All in all i'll have spent about the £5000 mark with a grand spare in case i want to tart it up a little bit, currently looking at spending £400 on those lovely Nordskog gauges that Keith5700 had in his machine and a polyeurathane 99 spec bumper to finish the car off :)

If you're still looking buddy i have these that could be up for sale for £250 with the tyres. A couple of kerb marks but nice wheels especially on a silver zed (No idea why the pics aren't showing but here's the links) http://s92.photobucket.com/albums/l35/bantambunny/Zena/?action=view¤t=1.jpg http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/vbpicgallery.php?do=big&p=1501

V8 Update - March
The V8 project has been on hold for a while, while i sorted out a load of unexpected bills and get some websites outstanding done and out the way. Well with a bit of hard work i've done some favours for two people who are going ot help me finish off the car and I decided to take a loan and blitz the whole lot. This morning my bank account received £3000 and so the hard work begins... This friday i'll be taking the block, heads and flywheel to Crane Hill Engineering to get them skimmed then the block bored, and honed before being hot dipped and returned to me While that's being done i'll order every last part i need from the states on one pallet ready for the build I'll be buying in an engine stand so soon as the block returns I can pop it on the stand and clean all the galleys/replace the water plugs/bearings before spraying it glossy black I've done Star Motorsport's new site in return for some help so Laurence is going to transport the car to and from his work's unit and lend me his facilities to get the car built up one weekend Soon as the block is ready and the parts arrive i'll be starting Friday night with Rudy on building the block up, attach the sump, clutch, flywheel, mount the gearbox then put the whole lot back into the car again ready to take back to my house. Wheel take out the gearbox spline to get the prop shaft made up The following week i'll be saying goodbye to it for the last time as the car goes on it holiday up to Sheffield for it's custom manifolds and stainless 3" exhaust to be made up at Exhausts Uk Then it's back to my house where i'll be connecting up all the various pipes, doing the last few jobs of wiring up the starter motor etc and getting the engine ready for its first start Fingers crossed I should get the engine in by the end of this month/beginning of april so all being well should be on the road ready for Japfest once it's taxed and tested :D Wish me luck....!!!!
