  1. Good luck, still waiting for a chance to change my gearbox over!
  2. I would take the strainer out and give that a good clean as well. I was stunned how much brown gunge was stuck in there.
  3. Unfortunately I will be at work, is Saturday or Sunday ok??
  4. That's good for me, I'm in Horstead just north of Norwich.
  5. Yes please how much and can you deliver?
  6. Cheers everybody, I'm coming to the same conclusion! Recon gearbox!
  7. Well after gloating that my gearbox was all sorted, things rapidly went downhill Friday night! Driving at a reasonable speed gearbox changed down, as the speed increased the gearbox tried to change up, there was a loud thud and the gears would not change up. Got off the road pulled up in a petrol station, stopped had a look for any obvious problems, but couldnt see nothing, no leaks from the gearbox. Went to reverse out, not a chance, a screeching sound but no movement!! Car would still move forward, so once again the car was low loaded back home. Anybody any ideas?? Is it worth change the gearbox oil again?? Any suggestions would be gratefully received, my thoughts at the moment is to source another auto gearbox Cheers
  8. Cheers mate, now the weather is warming up I'm looking forward to taking the roof down, feel the rush of air on my bald head!!!
  9. Many thanks, really chuffed. Must admit its not something I have really thought about in the past, but after seeing how much gunk builds up in the strainer I will certainly be cleaning it out again. As Jeff suggested I think I will give it a couple of months and change the oil again. All the best with yours.
  10. Really chuffed, opened up the gearbox, took the strainer out and gave it a good clean, full of brown gunk!! Put it all back together, gearbox works like a charm, difference is incredible!! Gear change is very smooth, no more jerking, acceleration is spot on! Would like to thank everybody for their advice, absolutely spot on!
  11. Hopefully going to open mine up this weekend and see what state the strainer is in. Hopefully it will cure the fault if not I will have to go through the diagnostics. What slightly concerns me is my car is low mileage, less than 45,000 miles but I understand it stood still for a number of years when imported into Ireland. My previous 300zx had over 100,000 on the clock and the gearbox was as good as gold. We will see.
  12. Some great cars, thanks for posting
  13. Hi, amazing I had exactly the same issue this weekend!! Hopefully this coming weekend I will be taking the strainer out and giving it a good clean, will see what happens. Good luck with yours hope you get it sorted.
  14. Will do, many thanks, you any closer to solving your problem??
  15. Many thanks, strained the old oil out, very brown and not the best smelling substance either! Will try the strainer next. Regards Paul Curtis
  16. Hi, not sure if anybody help, I have got a 1992 Convertible, the automatic gearbox has decided to stop playing. The gearbox will work for a couple of miles then will stop working, it will not change up or down. If you then stop for 10 mins, the gear box will work again for a couple of miles. Does this mean a new gearbox or is there something that I should be checking first?? Many thanks for any advice
  17. Cheers mate will have a look.
  18. Where the best place to buy new parts for the 300zx. Most places seem to concentrate on upgrades, custom and mods.
  19. Cheers Sudesh, car looks very nice with the new hood fitted, and I promise to get some pictures posted when I find out how to.
  20. I wish I had the money for a turbo. - - - Updated - - - Sounds like a cunning plan.
  21. Cheers, yes I know what you mean, the NSX was strangled using a cast iron manifold, I have changed that for headers and it also has an ARC airfilter system fitted.Really not sure what the gains are, except to lose a bit of weight and it also sounds very nice.
  22. There is lots of discussion on here on how to get more power from turbo'ed engines but are there any simple methods of getting a few more BHP from NA engined Z32??
