cleaned the idle valve as much as posible, checked solenoids and they're electrically fine. refitted it to my car and still have the same problem so i'll be looking at the air reg tomorrow. i rekon it could be sticking open. cheers for all your help andy :duffer: alex

finally got the bugger off! lots of carbon on the inside so i'll clean that off. how do i test the solenoids? also where can i get a new gasket from? and does anyone know the part number?

right i have now changed my water temp sensor and cleaned the contacts on the yellow plug as much as i can and annoyingly its made only a small difference.my car now idles at about 1750rpm. really need some help on this now guys. i have no idea what could be causing it to do this. :( oh and i dd an ecu check and came up with a code 55. :confused:

i would say you should be able to push for 4-5k. depends how much you want to get rid of it. is it a shortie? leather interior? difficult to say without seeing the car in the flesh.

but isn't the SL a 2 seat coupe (although i just found it weighs 1950kg :shock: )? and the E a saloon/estate?
