Buying a private plate
You then pay for the transfer through the DVLA. When I did mine, it was about £70 iirc.

Anyone padded their doors out with dynamat?
I've had all my door cards off and everything is still very tight in the frame. My doors don't rattle, they are just tinny. I don't think the Z has any sound deadening on the inside of the skins at all do they?

You gonna stick with the current rims or get the newer ones? I like both BTW.

It's the tinny noise from the door handle that gets me the most...

He needs to put the plate on retention and then you need to transfer. Each of you require forms from the DVLA to complete. I owned my old car as well as my Z, so just did a simple transfer.

I want an El Camino
Looking lovely now Alan. Very very nice. Although I think I would have done the B-pillar/roll bar black to match the roof capping.

I love the way the bonnets lift up on the 'vettes.

Anyone padded their doors out with dynamat?
I am wanting to rid the Z of the tinny 'Fiat Uno door crash'. Just wondering if anyone's gone mad with sound deadening on their Zs and if it made any difference. Not interested in the ICE reasons for it, just wanting a better quality clunk, rather than the typically tinny crash that Z doors make on closure. Did filling the doors with dynamat make a really noticable difference?

Classic!

mother of god!
That's about as attractive as a quorn burger smothered in semen. Quite how anyone could be seen dead driving what appears to resemble an aborted lesser spotted Great Basin Spadefoot toad's foetus is beyond me.

I want an El Camino
This is a Z forum, but this is NZR. :) I know the earlier version. I liked those wheels too. These aren't they?

Alan, get some photos up mate. Would love to see it regardless of what state it's currently in.

I want an El Camino
Cheers Alan. You have a 'vette?? Good man. C4s were nice. It was those diamond cut 'dog-leg' rims that did it for me....fitted to the 92 (I think) onwards. I briefly had a butchers at a few of those. A red and a white one. The white one had lurid red interior unfortunately. Have you ever used the digital corvettes website? There's a good mech/elec forum on there.

I've always been open about my passion for yank tanks. :) Used to go to Americana with some of the guys from AACINT. Was always a cracking good show.

I want an El Camino
Yeah, those are nice, were nicknamed 'cho choo' for some silly reason....must have been because they pull like a steam train I guess. But prefer the more retro front of the lesser models.

anyone know how to tint windows here?
Get what all chav'd up Corsa seem to have stuck to their windows. You need 'Bin liner tints'. Available from your local Pound Stretcher!

I want an El Camino
I've been yerning for one of these for years and years now. Mid 80s one too. I know a lot on here write off the idea of having a Yank car, but I love them. Was originally (and still would have had one if I could have found a good one) going to get Z28 Gen 4 Camaro instead of the Z. Really fond of my Yank-mobiles. I don't care that they don't handle very well as I never race my cars. Wanting a Chevrolet El Camino pickup now. Would drop in an LT1 EFi unit from an old Corvette and bolt on a nice big whipple supercharger, paint it yellow and fit some retro chrome rims. Bit like this thing. Not everyone's cup of tea, but something I really really want. Still might do it one day funds permitting. Wanting an old school resto-job to do. :)

Si A Nice Motor For Ya
Too much weight at the front. The old C25XEs were ubber heavy. It looks stupid too. Best engines for those are small block 4 bangers. Not 6 cylinder anchors. Astra is the smallest car I'd fit one to....to which I did. Not sure where muppet boy got his 211bhp standard figure. Out of the box they produce about 170bhp. With a set of 3.0 cams, you might be looking at 190bhp. Certainly not 200bhp+ Not even the Omega 3.0 produces that power.

galant 2.5 v6 tt
IIRC it's got the same underpinnings as the GTO. Not sure that the VR4 4x4 stuff is the same as the Evo. Galant (96 onwards) is certainly a far better looking car than the Evo and the Galant Estate (Legnum) VR4 is a stunning car.

lost mot cert
If it's one of the new style ones, I 'think' you can get it re-issued by the DVLA.
