Well I bought that Laguna
Not that it'll interest anyone all that much, but I bought that Laguna. Handing back my MK5 Astra in lieu of an allowance and some tax relief. The MK5 although being a new car had the 1.7 CDTi engine which is as noisey as a diesel engine could ever hope to be. I am actually looking forward to handing it back. As much is it's a reasonable car, on long distances, it's horrible. Suspension/seats are too hard, the engine is way too noisey.....and to be honest, fuel consumption isn't that good for an oil burner. Anyway, got this Laguna (2000/W-reg) and must say, I'm impressed with it. It's the 1.8 16v RT Sport. Nice smooth engine, good road manners, comfy seats and it's quite a pretty looking car for a re-mobile. Drove it around a bit last night and the fuel consumption is very good for a petrol car.

Nice one mate! That's the kit I am looking at getting later on in the year! You getting a paint depth gauge too?

for funki si
Lovely. Mate of mine has a fully rebuilt concourse LC. Looks the absolute mutts nuts. They have so much road presence for a saloon car when you see them out on the highways.

8.5" Front wheels? What tyres you using?
Not really. You'll have witness marks on the tyres and the suspension arms?

anyone on here recognise this
Dependant on the condition of the interior (if standard). I knew mine was low mileage when I bought it as there is no wear at all on the driver's seat and the rest of the interior is in fantastic condition. You can tell if mileage is likely to be genuine if you look at the car as a whole. Have seen some hangers though, with what says is low mileage, but is actually a load of *****cks.

Maybe a little bit, but if the car is a minter with that mileage, then £5 - £6k doesn't seem out of the realms of possibility. Not as if it's an Auto or anything.

two tone newport
Seen that one myself too in Newport.

LOL @ Dave and Richard....wouldn't be funny if it wasn't true....as I'd do exactly the same!! hehe

People's opinions on Renault Lagunas
Activa was a 2.0 8v turbo wasn't it? Same engine as in the 406 SRi turbo iirc.

People's opinions on Renault Lagunas
Well the engine in this one sounds really smooth. It's got a lot of service history as it was an ex-fleet car. But a well looked after one. No scratches, dents, chips or anything.

I've had a BX before and quite like the Xantia. Would have to be an HDi though if I went for a Xantia. But been looking for nice ones of those too and they still fetch good money. Like the interiors on Xantias too. Pleasant dashboard. Trouble is, I need something pronto as I am on holiday ATM. This very tidy Laguna just appeared and I do actually quite like it. Never thought I'd say that! LOL

People's opinions on Renault Lagunas
Well the one I am looking at is the revised model which is supposed to be quite a lot better as they introduced new engines into the range. The 1.8 16v, like yours Graham, is apparently quite a good unit and most of the problems from the earlier models were ironed out. I can't seem to find a nice 406 ATM Dave. Don't want a Ford either. The Mondeos in my price range are the facelift versions (MK2) and aren't in the least bit attractive. Prefer the very first ones, but they are toooooooo old and I hate the Focus (new ones are quite nice) but just can't live with that A-symetrical dashboard.

People's opinions on Renault Lagunas
Right, ok, I know most people on here hate French cars. I'm due to hand my company car back in 2 weeks time as I'll benefit far more from the allowance I'll get in my wages each month, than I will having a new car to drive me the five miles to work and back each day. Initially I opted for one as I was doing about 350 miles a week in it when I lived in Glastonbury. Now, I just don't need it and don't want it. I've been umming and arring about a number of different cars, something repmobile-like really. Had thought about an Audi coupe, but I can't be arsed throwing money at insurance companies when I only want it to beat about it. Spent the last 2 days looking for something cheap, spacious, fairly modern and semi-attractive. Looked at a few 406s, but they've all been pretty tatty. Came across this Laguna, an ex-fleet car in fantastic condition. Nice to drive, roomy, well equiped etc. Sure, it's a Renault and instantly, this makes it a bit of an unknown quantity. But this one's been really well looked after and you can tell by the condition of the exterior and interior, the fact that the last owner fitted brand new Pirelli tyres on it etc rather than a cheap set of pov-spec tyres. Engine is very sweet sounding for a 4-banger. It's a 2000 model Sport.... here's a pic of it. (Bird shit not included in sale BTW!!). Thinking about putting down a deposit on it tomorrow. It's pretty cheap too.

Thanks to Si
My Z has been through an MOT as well with 3/4 sized plates. Police have walked and driven past it and haven't batted an eyelid.

10K on a Z. What Would You Do??.
£10K? Well, I've spent almost that since I've bought the thing and only had it 18 months! LOL Erm, most likely keep it looking pretty much as it is. Set of 19" HRE 540Rs, full leather retrim with a custom ICE instal and some rather large Brembos all round. Plus the full suspension rebuild that I'm planning on doing this side of the summer.

Top Gear to be no more
Clarkson probably wants more money and BBC have told him no, he's threatened to not return, they say it'll be staying....so maybe another offer has been made to him....just my thoughts. I'm probably wrong. He makes so much money from TG anyway, he's unlikely to pull out.

Shame how cheap the Zed's Are Selling
I think the reason being is that people don't want to see them get too low so that every Tom, Dick and Harry can get hold of them. IE, ruin/abuse the examples that are left....so, seeing the marque getting tarnished, for an enthusiast is an acceptable thing to moan about.

Likewise with the classic Nissan/Datsun Z car range.
