First night out since smoking ban
How nice??????? Christ, it's great! I feel relatively refreshed, although pretty plastered. My house does not stink of stale tobacco and it's a much nicer atmosphere out. Still busy and still a good night. :hyper:

Hmmmmm headlights......
I was gonna say, the HIDs will complete it. :)

Hmmmmm headlights......
Thought so. Cracking idea though. Taken them to the next level without looking aftermarket.

Hmmmmm headlights......
How much was that then? I'd have mine done, but I really don't have the patience to remove my headlights at the moment.

Hmmmmm headlights......
Oooh interesting! Liking that. Never liked the chrome ones as I think the Z looks far more aggressive with the OEM dark headlights. Now that's going to make them look even darker/deeper! Nice. Silver bezel around the projector lens, was that done too?

A little update!
Unfortunately at the time, I didn't specify the amount of coats of lacquer, I wish to hell I had done now as I would have liked to have spent more time wet sanding it to get the top coat as flat/even as possible. To be honest, mine wants doing again, which I may have done at some point towards the end of the summer before it goes away to the hibernaculum. hehe I did use a paint depth gauge, but unless you either have a bare metal respray and/or have one of those expensive paint depth gauges that measures breakdown in thicknesses rather than total thickness, you've kinda gotta be pretty careful. We did various test patches and found a method to which suited what we thought the paint could take. But in hindsight, I'd liked a good 5 or 6 coats of lacquer. Plenty of depth then to get that superior mirror finish and less chance of error.

Did anyone else just get a PM from steve-300zx
Which was far less time than you spent composing this thread that's for sure!

That's very fine, almost like a pearl.

A little update!
Sounds lovely. Looks like a fine flake, almost flip which is a good choice. Hope you're having a good 5 or 6 coats of lacquer...so that finishing off, can be taken to the next level with a good detailer. Much more paint to work with to get that mirror shine on the top coat.

A little update!
Looks a little like Vauxhall's brocade yellow....like a very light yellowy metallic gold. Very nice. Think it'll suit the Z nicely.

Anyone fancy a group buy on the complete clutch line replacement?
Well, providing I can get Jimmer to assist, then sure. I'll ask if he wants one too! £25 is a bargain! For a more reliable clutch system with a firmer pedal. :)

Anyone fancy a group buy on the complete clutch line replacement?
Thanks, I see. So how difficult are these to replace?...or rather 'fit'?

Can you tell us a little bit more about it? A £25 part for a Z is instantly something I'd like to know more about. I don't know enough about the master cylinder in the Z to know of the benefits.

Any body got any Skoda joke's.
"why do Skodas have heated rear screens? So you can keep your hands warm while you're pushing it!" " What do you call a Skoda with a sunroof? A skip". Awful aren't they!

Gutted
Shame mate, always thought that car looked nice. Who are Simpsons though? Have you thought about taking it to a Z specialist? I have no idea if they are a Z specialist or not. I've been the brunt of poor sellers though. I bought an engine that was so called 'guaranteed' 100% by the seller (subscriber). It had been pulled apart, shot head gasket, heads not even torqued down. Luckily it had a very good bottom end, so was able to rebuild with lots of new parts The bloke was a complete and utter c*ck when it came to asking politely for my money back.....I didn't get a dime, just bad attitude.

another zed bites the dust...
They always offer low on the first instance. Although £2k for yours is an absolute insult. Best thing to do is to find clippings and adverts for similar condition Zs....as had as that will be as most UK Zs are in unfortunate condition. Fight your corner as hard and laborious that might be. Might be worth getting it insured at an agreed value when it's back. I really should do that with mine. Premium might go up a bit, but at least you know it's actually unsured for a reasonable amount. Although don't get your car stolen, torched and then try to claim. Dodgy stuff...

Wastegate stuck closed
Eeeek! Get that sorted out sharpish! One of my wastegates was left unplugged by previous own unknowingly to me....result = melted piston and a ruined engine. All sorted now, but £2,000 out of pocket because of it!!!!!

Bigger disks behind stock wheels
Pretty sure Jimmer can't get standard rims on the front now. He's using OEM calipers with 350Z rotors + brackets.

Jesus, that is CLOSE!
Actually, if you guys like this stuff, you can get pretty close to planes taking off from Bristol airport. Not to that degree, but you can actually drive around to the end of the runway via back roads and watch as they fly directly overhead really close. Very loud. It's great!

Jesus, that is CLOSE!
It's the Princess Juliana Airport on the carribean island of Saint Martin.
