  1. Can't be many Z32s in SA? Are most imports or were they available on the domestic market?
  2. Here's another idea....if you have a spare £3 - £4k...you 'could' buy either a DC4 ITR or lesser model Impreza turbo, as well as have the Z, live with them for a while and see how you feel. Main reason being, if you sold your Z which is, I'm sure in your eyes, a good worry free Z (which are not easy to source these days), then regretted it, you may end up purchasing another, not so good example. It's just I've read, many a time, people going off to buy different things that aren't really an upgrade from what they've got, regretted it, missed the Z and then have ended up either buying another, or missing it. With some of the above, it's almost along the lines of going from a BMW M3, to a VW Corrado.
  3. The Williams F1 Espace had a V10 engine in it?
  4. http://www.answers.com/topic/nissan-vq-engine
  5. The block might be of the same casting, but the actual VQ engine is developed specifically by Nissan. From its current guise from old Renault block to current VQ status is purely Nissan. A varient of the engine appears in the Vel Satis, Aventime and Clio V6. I see what you're saying. The original block has been around for years and was fitted to the Espace with some 200 odd bhp iirc.
  6. We're not talking about the VG Z32 lump though are we. We're talking about the VQ 3.5 which is a totally new unit.
  7. Or, add some more HP?? Get a retrim? Change the wheels? You might fall in love with it again. I'd not driven my Z yesterday for about 2 weeks and decided to take it out for a quite drive. Sit there thinking about selling up...but got back in it again, had a drive, loved it, thought about stuff I still want to do to it...and though, if I sold it, what would I replace it with? I honestly couldn't think of anything better, even if I threw another £5k on top. So, it's wait until I can gather the cash for an Honda NSX or Ferrari 348 They seem like worthy upgrades for me I guess.
  8. But after getting bored of such a great driver's car, won't you quickly get bored of something with increased scuttle shake? AKA, S2000....the Scooby has a nasty interior, but will you get bored of that quickly? Dunno.
  9. Suprised someone hasn't suggested an Evo. Not that I'd want one of those either! LOL
  10. I agree with Joel. I'd only mildly consider the S15 as a replacement to the Z32. It's almost taking a step back with some of them. Logical progression would dictate something like an NSX next...but I guess they then jump out of your budget.
  11. Are you sure? The series 1 Impreza has has posted can be worth as little as a few thousand, whereas, the S2000 is still about £12k?
  12. Just out of interest, what are your prerequisites for replacement car? They are all quite different machines that you have listed.
  13. :hurl: vile looking car though IMHO, both the Z3 and Z4.
  14. Agree with Glenn! Nice set of quality staggered Japanese split rims and a subtle drop and it's perfect. Bit like the Z really. Hehe A set of Work VSXX would be my choice.
  15. Time for you to stop moaning, sell up and get a recycled U-boat then...eham, Corrado!
  16. Silvia/S2000 joint first place. ITRs don't sound good as much as the DC5 is a nice machine and I have little regard/time for Scoobies. I have driven both of these cars. DC5 has a nasty dash, mind you so has the S2000
  17. You can get the old 4 banger Esprits for about £5k - £6k. But those are £15k+ I think.
  18. Probably an Esprit V8 Twin Turbo. A stunning car, seriously quick, seriously unreliable though.
  19. VQ is actually a Nissan developed engine. Renault just use them. It's myth that they are Renault units.
  20. I dunno at what point a car becomes a classic....age-wise I mean. Yours being an S reg, I'd not consider it a classic. Some cars become instant classics. Maybe the Z32 is one of those cars. I think it's grown into a classic rather than become an instant classic. Good on ya though! Mine will be out in Nissan Sport USA magazine soon. :)
  21. I think the compressor I have is rated at 2hp, which is just about enough for doing large panels.
  22. That is a very very very very very very small compressor....if indeed it is one which is sat on your bench. Only really suitable for very small areas. If you're doing large panels, you'll end up running out of airline pressure and you'll have a right blobby mess on your hands! 2k does require a hardener/activator plus thinners and yes and it's quite noxious. But I'd never use any of the acrylic paints again to be honest. Ok for interior bits I supposed and small detail. But not for a panel or anything. But, it's cheap and ideal if you want to hone your painting skills. But as well as the painting, it's just as important to get the prep and finishing up to scratch. There's methods for all of these.
  23. Get some spare panels from the scrappy. Old Ford Sierra bonnet or something. Various types of paint you can use. If you want a professional finish, then you're best off using 2k paints. Acrylic/cellulose is not good, finish never lasts and goes cloudy, paint can react badly with even the most minor of contaminants. Various methods of painting/prep dependant up what you're spraying and what type of paint you're using. Need some breathing (respirator) equipment for 2k paint though. I have a compressor and gun and used to refurb the odd wheel or two. Have done a number of car body panels with pretty good success. But wouldn't spray again unless using 2k and I don't have the B.A for that at the moment..
