Not quite, I like modded Zs a LOT. Mine has many many mods. Difference is, I like subtle tasteful stuff, that is vile. Knock sensor should however pick this up and put the fuel map into safety mode I believe or advance/retard the timing. Knock sensor is basically a small microphone that picks up any localised shock. Some people bypass this with a resistor when the wiring goes faulty. You remove some of the failsafes in the engine by doing that though.

Problem is solved by finding the route cause. Can be a number of things from an incorrect fuel map/boost set too high, knackered plugs, bad fuel.

Pretty much. It's when you get peak combustion at an incorrect moment, ie not at its peak of the duty cycle.

Metallic tinny sort of rattle. Never experienced it in any of my cars, but have in others.

...being in Leicester though, you're not a million miles from Zedworld in Tamworth. Would be worth taking it there to get a firm diagnostics.

Welcome to the forum. Your smoking problem sounds like turbo seals. Try replacing the PCV valves first. Otherwise it's engine out time.

Nope, infact they aren't. There is a company that manufacture these. I've seen photos of them pre-fitting and quality is abysmal. An interesting and better alternative to caravan rear lights, but they don't make a centre panel, so it matches NOT.

Not for me thanks. Matt black along with metaflake/glitter effect paint has always been one of the very worst paint effects IMO. Looks terrible. Think how nice that would look if it was painted in a crisp deep gloss black. There is no definition to that car as it is and looks drab. Never seen the appeal in giving your car the 'blackboard look'. Front bumper is ugly too. Like the wheels though. :)
