Monumental cock-up, hugely pissed off - I might miss Coventry!! :(
....plus I am away on Monday and Tuesday, so I wouldn't have been able to leave it there even if they had had space over the weekend for it.

No it's not, it's not just their fault, it's also the windscreen fitter's fault. They were expected in today and polishing was going to commence, we waited around while I rebuilt the car. It's all just a bit of a nightware. I didn't want to give them shit either as I want my car to look as good as possible.

Well if I didn't have to shift it tomorrow, I'd be going! It's such a pain in the ass that not only were my plans to bring the Z have been scuppered, but that me attending has been scuppered. - - - Updated - - - They wouldn't do that, purely for insurance purposes. - - - Updated - - - Well no, but I will have to wait until a window of dry weather appears. Showers are forecast tomorrow, so I'll need to move it around then. SOOOOO FECKED OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My Z is not here, it's locked away in the bodyshop still! Here's a side profile though - it 'might' help!

Monumental cock-up, hugely pissed off - I might miss Coventry!! :(
The very worst I had feared has happened! Well, it's obvious to say my Z won't be ready for the show, not down to me being unable to rebuild it, but because the bodyshop has taken longer than they estimated. The paint job however is superb and the car, although it bits look better than it ever has done. The issue arose late afternoon today when I had a phone call from National Windscreens who said that one of their guys was off sick and wouldn't be able to make it to refit my glass. Thanks for letting me know at 5.30 chaps! Why has has this caused a problem? Well, because my car has taken longer than they'd wanted, cars have now backed up and they're having to start work on a 968. There is no more space for my car after tomorrow and the thing is not water tight. They have to machine polish it and finish off a few bits of spraying tomorrow morning and they close at 1. I need to get that car out of there as fast as possible and home to the garage as it's insecure and not watertight. I can't leave it any longer there after tomorrow as they also have an Alfa Romeo Roadster and there's no more space to store my car, ie, it has to be out tomorrow. Since they have 3 hours work left on it, I can't collect it until about noon time. I doubt I'll get up to Coventry until the time the show is all over - or close to. I am MIGHTILY pissed off as this was the one show I really wanted to attend this year, with or without my Z. I am sorry to those I said I'd be there and I am sorry to those whom I said I'd volunteer. I don't really know quite what to do at the moment. :(

Finally getting painted
They're the wrong way round anyway! :p ;)

What did you do to your zed today?
I love the stock TT bumper, I could now no longer go with anything else, I think this was the key thing that it was missing. Looking forward to fitting it up later and seeing it working its magic! :)

Not now arrrgghhh.... advice?
Was your air conditioning on at the time?

What did you do to your zed today?
That's starting to become a realisation. Glass isn't even going to be refitted until later this afternoon and I won't be able to collect the other bits until tomorrow - have no mirrors! Yup! Just went down to check out the bumper with my smoked indicators - I think they work really well! I need to repolish the outside of the indicator as it seems to have picked up some marring. The Toyota metallic grey works really well I think. The lighting is really poor, but you get the idea!

Finally getting painted
Never seen a colour coded filler cap and numberplate lights before, very novel. lol ;) Looking good; so nice to see some colour on that car Graham! Black roof bars too - great choice!

What did you do to your zed today?
That was my cock up. I thought I'd booked it in 2 weeks before, but it was only until a month ago after a phone call with Richard Smith that I'd double booked! Managed to move it back a few days, but couldn't do it any sooner and I did not want to show it until it was sorted. Well the majority of the car is done. I have started assembling the shell, doors are now aligned, have their check straps on, their latches aligned, seals on. Front end support, fan housing, strut and the rest all cleaned up, arch liners back in, targa seals back in, filler cap assembly done, door wiring refitted (PITA). I can't really do much more until the hatch is bolted back onto the car and the glass refitted, only then will I be able to build up the interior. There is still a bonnet, back bumper, mirror covers and door handles to be painted. I can't really build up the door without the door handles and they're unlikely going to be painted before tomorrow lunchtime, so I won't be able to fit them until late tomorrow night....but and here's the big but, it all has to be colour sanded and machine polished! As fast as I can build it up, it still needs a lot of work to complete and my efforts of rebuilding are hampered by parts still awaiting paint. BUT, I am MUCH much happier with this job already than I was with the last one, especially this vibrant new colour and metallic grey moustache! Looks MUCH darker here than it actually is. The colour of the moustache is 1G3 - a Toyota metallic grey which matches the original satin (by shade) of the OEM mirror backings - guess what, they're being painted the same to match! I am STILL trying though and will be assembling what I can at the paint shop tomorrow in a hope that I might be able to bring it home tomorrow otherwise I'll be scuppered and will have to collect on Saturday! Wing under partial sunlight - when it is sunny, it really pops! Front end partly built up. Close up of fog light out in sunlight - really happy with the result and the LED side light still gives a good output!

So last night....
That's cool and I support your experiences. So far I haven't experienced a single thing that would leave me convinced. I would like to, if such things exist. Being devil's advocate, some could also be subconscious thoughts? The mind and light can sometimes play all sorts of tricks. I sometimes 'think' when I've misplaced an item and it ends up in the most random of places that maybe it wasn't me that moved it as, how the hell would it get there? Having said this however, I have been known to put my wallet in the fridge and my mobile phone in the oven.

What did you do to your zed today?
Well I haven't got it back yet! I fear I won't get it back until tomorrow! They had planned on having it complete by today, the glass man is coming to fit the rear screen and rear quarters, but there's still a hell of a lot to do (not just my end), there's a lot of work the painter still has to do which includes colour sanding and machine polishing the entire car. The final paintwork won't be done until tomorrow afternoon, but if that gets dragged out, it may mean that I won't get it back (in bits) until Saturday mid morning...if that happens, I'll miss Coventry as I'll be having to get the car sorted, into the garage and whatnot - that's worst case scenario! It was my own fault for booking it in the week before the show - I got my dates completely muddled up, I blame the jet lag! I am trying though!

So last night....
Hmmm, can't see it personally. Never experienced anything 'paranormal' or 'spiritual', so can't comment on that either. Part of me wants to say 'poppycock', but since I am agnostic, I am open to things like that.

So last night....
I can't see any 'head and shoulders' shadow. All I see is a moth or something that's flown by and set off the camera.....

Newb - Drooling over z32s
Welcome to the forum! NA and TT insurance, there's not much in it, or shouldn't be. I personally would ALWAYS go for the TT model, but it really depends on what you want the car for. I drive an NA Z32 in the US and it's a decent cruiser, but it won't get your pulse racing quite like the TT will. My car in this country is a TT and I love it. In addition, it really IS worth traveling to find a good one. They are getting very rare now and because of their age, there are a lot of dogs around. Be as selective as you can and don't be afraid to come south to find a nice one.

Just get originals. You can buy the lenses separately, they're not too much either. Having new fog lights makes a big difference to the appearance. http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=663 http://www.z1motorsports.com/product_info.php?products_id=661 So that's about $65 the pair which is about £40. You have shipping on top of that, you could try MJP for these items too.

Some better photos of today's progress.

rear light panel
Modding is required. The reverse bulbs actually straddle the two lenses and illuminate both. I wire up a fog light for MOT purposes and swap out a bit of loom. I then revert back to having 2 reverse lights after MOT. Fog light is useless for me as I can't ever even remember taking mine out in the fog. 2 reverse lights are far more useful.

Wing; again, straight from the gun. Photos actually look like shit. I'll try and take some better ones tomorrow!

What did you do to your zed today?
Door teaser! It's so darn bright! This is straight out of the gun, it requires wet sanding and polishing. The pearl is causing that light diffusion. It's extremely vivid in person.

What did you do to your zed today?
Haha! Something like that. I've just returned from the paint shop and the car has been painted, well, what they could fit in their oven anyhow! From the tiny little bits I could see, it looked FRESH and CRISP! I went for a slight colour change too! ;)

Front of my Z
You need new fog lights too. :)
