  1. I'm surprised he hasn't been on here. Sounds quite keen, mods and all?
  2. Stickers arn't the point mate! You get all the answers to any question you could ever ask about Zeds, and you support the forum by paying £20 (which isn't much really is it?) to keep those answers coming. Plus you get to throw abuse around all day without any being able to punch you!
  3. Where's the option for : Yes - I'm out and proud, I'm a weirdo and talk to nuts online!
  4. Would be interested in what the actual problem is. Symptoms seem unusual, with there not being a batman smokescreen on reving which I'd expect when turbo seal is knackered. Has anyone else had anything similar? Dave
  5. Loving the Zed! Looks very tasty what you've done there. Dave

Would def like to know results mate, know some RAF people! Is it the old 'green barrel' stuff or the new low lead stuff? I can take a picture of the chapter of the book if you want, gives stacks of info on the subject, wont be able to do it till later though.

Just found what he means by oil dilution from tightly bonded fuels. When engine was cold some fuel would remain unburned, washing oil off the cylinder walls and diluting oil in the sump. On the other hand very volatile fuels have little knock resistance. Therefore differences in composition depending on use.
  8. Sorry to hear that mate. Several mates of mine have left the Marines and been turned down.
  9. Follow the oil line form the passenger turbo into the sump, oil pressure sender is the little black box with the electric plug in the bottom. I know, I broke it when I first took my engine out! Dave

Been trying to find out in a couple of books that I have but its very 'chemistry'. Basically it talks about straight aviation fuel having different composition and having very low throttle response as aircraft only alter it for take off and landing. The high knock resistance that it has is due to its tight molecular structure but this can be a disadvantage at low revs (low temp and boost) because it doesnt combust fully giving poor throttle response and possibly a drop in power. Quote:'fondness for the dual fuel approach where normal petrol is used for start up, (good throttle response and minimal cylinder wash and oil dilution). Then with either toluol, toluol/avgas mix or straight avgas in the secondary tank' - which has the greater knock resistance and because of the higher temp and boost they get complete combustion (which doesn't happen at lower temp and boost due to tightly bonded molecular structure (which is what gives it its resistance to det)). 11. Fair one, looks stunning mate! Dave
  12. I hope you are a reformed man now Dave?! and never use heavy boots again. Dave
  13. Does that mean you get the turbos even if it goes for £150?
  14. Sorry Chunk but I put in 1st dibs! If I can't raise the money though you can have second dibs! Dave
  15. http://cars.msn.co.uk/carnews/carnews5sep05/Default.asp Just found this on another forum. Dave
  16. Get off your rump and do some exercise!
  17. An annoying one?! Dave
  18. Its a bit of hassle to recon the turbos but nothing to bad, took only an hour or so for each one once they were removed. Opinions are split on the wisdom of not balancing them properly, but I just marked them when I took them apart and put them together the same way and they were fine ( Graham Bell thinks its ok in his turbo tuning book!). The hardest thing was taking the big circlip (sp?) off to split them, although I thought I saw some pictures of it being done just taking one side off and pulling the workings through but not sure about this. Dave
  19. Ouch, at least you picked a good car to do it to! Sorry to hear this mate, beautiful looking car to. Dave
  20. edited last post.
  21. Does it boot into last good config/ safe mode ok then? I take it you havn't got another drive you can use as the operating system drive so you can look at the fooked one as a second drive?
  22. Oh sorry, just repeating what the website said, says something on the vid about what it is but I was being lazy! Dave
  23. If your BIOS is seeing it, XP shouldn't have any probs, at least I've never seen this happen. Stick it in as a second drive with as operating system on a good drive. Then see what you can see on it. If you need file recovery software I can send you some by email/yousendit.com. Dave
