Car audio
Does anyone know what would be the easiest way to get a line in 'headphone' type socket into my car stereo system? My new phone has a headphone type jack socket and I want to be able to plug it into the car stereo and play the music on the phone in car. I have a cable just need somewhere to plug it in! Would I need an amp with a line in or something like that. Currently the ice is a headunit with speakers in the normal places. Thanks in advance Dave

Standard vs. Modded Zeds...
Depens if you mean original bits or just standard spec. Lots of old components on a standard Zed, where as modded ones have usually had all the obvious bits replaced. I guess if all the bits were the same age then a non modded one would be more reliable?

Cornwall Meet
Sounds like a great idea. Will be date dependent as I've got stacks on at the moment what with leaving the Marines end of next month. Maybe down again next weekend, often about for the surf anyway in the evenings although I try to not use the Zed for that. Good dyno results Jon, look forward to seeing the car. Dave

Sony w800i - get one!!
My mate has the 750, he wishes he got this now! The fact that you can plug your own speakers or headphones in makes a huge difference. Other than the memory it is otherwise the same. Dave

Sony w800i - get one!!
Got this new phone on Friday and completely chuffed with it. It has 512mb memory for mp3's etc. You can plug your own headphones or speakers into it and it is as good as my computer quality wise. These photos were taken with it (nice surf mobile!). It even has a high intensity LED for indoor/night shots. I got one for me and one for the missus. They cost £50 on a £40 a month contract 450 mins any network. I got £50 back on my old phone and then whipped down to cash converters and asked if they had any old phones that didnt work out the back. He gave me one for free and I got the other £50 back on that!! Dave

people taking pics of the zed
I sat in a cafe in Hayle, Cornwall the other day with the Zed parked on the road right out front. As we were eating we watched a procession of people go by either walking round it or taking photos. I'd say twenty people in the space of 30mins! It was the first time the family had seen it as well and they couldn't believe the attention it was getting. I just sat there with a huge grin on my face! Dave

Boot round suspension shocks
Noticed that the boot that protects the suspension strut has perished on two corners of the car, anyone know if its much of a job and/or much money and time to sort. Is it something that should be sorted straight away or is it minor? cheers in advance Dave

Anyone for a beer??!
Sounds good mate. The Zed isn't the best surf wagon. Its my daily drive now because my escort estate is knackered, but I dont want salty boards in it. Have to get mates to drive all the time!

Anyone for a beer??!
I'm off for a surf in Cornwall tomorrow! Here this'll make you miss it even more (I'm just jealous of you in beautiful Canada with mountains and all that!). The first one is Porthleven in Cornwall, the second is when I was in Fuertaventura last year. Dave

Lifestyle Change!
It really is what you make of it mate. I've had a great 6yrs, done all I joined for and not had any particuarly nasty moments. Been to the arctic, the desert, the jungle, done a lot of time in the mountains, was jumping out of planes into the sea every few months for a few years. Its probably not as gucci as you might imagine though, for every day you spend jumping out of planes or what ever, you spend 10 doing something either really boring, really tiring, really cold, really wet or all of the above! Rough with the smooth like any job I guess. I've been doing computer networks so have it comfier than some. Its a single mans job though IMO, most older Marines do have partners but many have problems. I don't want to put the lady through all that, and don't want to not see any kids I may have in the future. I'll post you some snazzy pictures in the members section mate! Dave

Lifestyle Change!
Just found out wednesday that my finish date in the Royal Marines is 28th October, next month for christ sake! My actual end of employment isn't until feb 1st so didn't expect to be out for at least a few months yet, but when owed leave and terminal leave is taken into account it brings the date forward to the 28th. Better get my act together! I've been working really hard all year on getting qualified in what I already do (networking), and have got my MCSA and CCNA and working on my CCNP at the moment. I'm well prepared but it still feels like a shock because of the massive lifestyle change. Dave

nitrous oxide
As has been said here before, I've always thought NOS was of use at the low end to compensate for the lag in turbocharged cars. Whats the score with that then ?!
