Well i started as a pigeon shit welder but after owning a few suzuki sj's i had to teach my self how to weld. Its pretty easy just need to be brave when cutting out the crap metal and clean metal is a must. I must admit when i see you lot scrapping zeds because of rust i think they could be repaired. Only took day and bit to do mine.

Well that could be arranged i dont mind doing them actually, mind you see how i feel after i done the secound side! Lol

Thanks for nice comments been finishing it off today... Bit of under seal underneath bit of filler to cover the patch I decided to re schultz the whole of the seal as the rear was a bit dodgy If you dont have a spray booth then improvise... Hair dryer and a heater does the trick! Lol and come out pretty well i think

What started out as a small hole on my inner sill ended up as a bit of a mission!!! 5 hours later and i have a soild sill again so much for a quick patch! Now i have 3 more SMALL HOLES to tackle! But i wont be beaten and i wont be breaking it! bit of filler and a lick of paint today and we should be good as new! :thumbup1:

3000 miles since he put the engine in doesn't say he done the head gasket before he put the new engine in though so maybe its just bad timing plus sounds like they like to drive hard? Not my cup of tea either im not a fan of big wings etc prefer smoother euro style looks

Good to hear you daughter waz not hurt and no i dont think its that bad seal looks straight and un damaged. Does the door still open ok? I would of thought that to damage the chassis the window would of gone at least? Plus im pretty sure convertablies have stronger chassis as there is no roof so the chassis is where all the strenght comes from. If they do write it off it would be worth you buying it back as it looks an easy fix

You think zeds are bad disco's can need rear boot floor changed, wheel arches, door seals and pretty much the rest of the body! Thats on the 200/300 tdi's not sure on the newer stuff. Shogons? Bmw 5 serious, audi a6, volvo v70 comes with fold away 7 seats as do some of the large merc estste's. If going for zafia stlye i would go seat or vw version as i think there better built than the fords and avoid french crap if it was me
