i think the time has come!
Well i think the time has come to finally take my engine out!!! I have got poor idleing at the mo plus i sometimes get blue smoke on idle and i have low boost! so im thinking i want to check and recondition the turbos. plus the tax is due and im buying some down pipes and de cats. i also need to do the rocker cover gaskets, the centre prop bearing, some welding, new det sensor and a water by pass! Im also thinking ill change the clutch while im there but is there anything else i should do while the engine is out? Cambelt has already been done. Also can anyone recommend a company to replace/recondition my turbos? thanks

Help with customer care issue
hi jeff i dont think sending used parts out to fix a customers zed with warranty issues is a good idea. I feel you should of asked for the customer to bring the car back to you so you can check the car over and all the previous work you have done. Selling used parts is fine but you should sell them as used and with no more than 30 days warranty. Also any perfomace upgrades you should really have a disclaimer in place as a lot of tunning garages do. If your asking more from a 20 year old injectors then there more than likley going to fail. I know my friend paid £1500 for a gearbox from Quaife for his golf which below up 2 months after buying it and could not get any kind of refund as it was going into a high performance car (500 bhp). I would offer him a refund for the injector and ask him to bring the car back so you can diagnose the fault then go from there. hope this helps

So my Saab nightmare goes on
I didnt realise VOSA would not deal direct with the fault but if there are an MOT station and they are not doing a good job repairing cars then VOSA will be interested and they just love surprise inspections! (We had one the start of the year) and any MOT station will want to avoid a visit from VOSA as it normally ends up costing you money and if they are as bad at mot's as there are at fixing saabs then VOSA can shut them down. Its just a way of making the garage who sold you the car, life a bit more difficult (like he is yours) as he probably use's the garage for all of his work and wont want to upset them.

So my Saab nightmare goes on
VOSA is who you want poking around as they have the most power over garages. Is the garage there taking the car to an MOT station or just a man in a shed? although it is the sellers responsabiltle to deal with you regarding the sale of the car you should ask who the car is being taken to to be fixed? if its an independant garge give them a ring and ask what have they have done to the saab. If there an MOT station tell them you will be getting VOSA to come an inspect there garage as your experance of there workman ship is below standards. Also threaten the garage with the cost of a hire car and that you expect them to pay for it as you have been left with out transportation and that you will be taking them to a small claims court to retrive compansion for loss of earnings.

Totally dropped a b0ll0ck with this one. Long sorry
http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_world/consumer_affairs/buying_second_hand_vehicles.htm#you_bought_the_vehicle_from_a_dealer useful link. And as its under 6 months of owning the car its down to the dealer to prove there is no fault not that there is a 6 month warrenty on the car

You as the customer has the law on your side. I was a car sales man for 5 years and the customer has more power than the seller. First question is, is there, for spares or repair or spares only etc etc anywhere on the invoice? If not i belive the garage have to give a 6 month major defects warrenty on any vechile they sell. You have to take the car back to them as you have to give them resonable oppotunty to fix the car which i belive is 3 times per problem. There is no point trying to claim for travel costs as how far you live from them is out of there control. Im 99% sure that all sales from a pound to a million pound fall under the sales of goods act and that you have a 14 day cooling off period but Best to speak to trading standards as they will give you the best advise. Biggest advise i would give you, although tempting is to NOT lose your temper, shout and a scream at them as that will get you no where and there less likely to be of any help to you. Also try to keep a record of all messages and phone calls incase you need to go to court but i would say they dont have a leg to stand on and they probably know it. If you do your research ie trading standards and consumer credit etc you wont have a problem. I would recommend you take nothing less than a full refund now (£1040) as this car will be one problem after another.

Anyone ever tried a cat fence
i agree with zx-tt you may as well save your money as cats will get out regardless. Just make it harder for them to get back in. My old cat had 2 homes, used to come home with new colliers and smelling of a log fire!
