  1. i had mine off in just over an hour and that was my first attempt and i dont have a water bypass i dont think but i do have the EGR valve removed so maybe this is whats causing you problems?
  2. i did do the pcv valves when i bought the car as i was given them free with the car. I have just discovered that oil is getting in the plugs from the rockers!! would this give me blue smoke?
  3. Are the rocker cover gaskets meant to be 4 rubber gaskets or 2 rubber and 2 sealent? thanks
  4. yeah they where done when i bought the car about 6 months ago
  5. well i thought i would start taking my zed apart today! my origanal plan was to take the engine out as i thought i had a shagged tubo or 2! Anyway i thought i would take the plenum off as im doing a water bypass and i have fitted new injector plugs and coil plugs today and while i was there i thought i would take a look at the turbo pipes etc to look for oil and im pleased to say there is very little in my pipes so im guessing the turbos are in ok condition. However it does leave me a bit confused as i was getting blue smoke on idle depending on what way the wind was blowing! lol so im hopping its due to the crap connectors on both the coil packs and the injectors if not im not sure what else it could be!!
  6. I have just taken my plenum off and have found that my PCV pipes seem to have a valve in them is this right?
  7. No worries i hope everything works out and no rush for my parts family comes first.
  8. this is true! but if im going to be uping the power at bit i want the engine to be stronger plus i dont want to do all the work i have planned only to end up having to rebuild the engine in a couple of months

  10. Hi guys i have been reading though some of the old post regarding head gaskets and i see that you both say that its better to replace the engine or do a major strip down rather than do the gaskets if its been over heating. Now im looking to take my engine out for other work and i was thinking of doing the headgaskets while its out. I have no over heating problems at the moment and have not had any since i have had the car and as far as i know its not been done before. My question is am i better to leave alone or will it be ok to do with out having to strip the engine down any further than the head gaskets? Thanks dave

i cant make it as im off to benidorm on a 3 day bender!!
  12. umm a spare engine to play with!!!!! how about a sirrera? a reto bmw. an old cortina or carpia or something a bit different a small 4x4 suzuki vitara/sj for example. I like sleeper type cars as they can be lots of fun! but yes any engine will go in any car with enough time and money
  13. Thats great thanks. Im planning on doing the work over next 6 to 8 months and trying to spread the cost as much as pos! I have just put my name down for a greddy ecu and i have a rolling road close to me which im planning on using when everything is back together and get it set up tidy. If i go for t28's will i need bigger injectors?
  14. my limiting factor is budget! i have a far amount of work i need to do to the car plus i have a house to pay for on me tod so money is a little tight. I was thinking i could get me standard turbos reconditioned for about £70 - £100 per turbo as ill do the work myself and just get them balanced or i was thinking if i bought 2 t28's that need reconditioning then the only extra cost ill have is the price of 2 t28's turbo that need recondition which should be cheap enough but im unsure how much better the t28 are over standard. Im also looking to do FMIC, greddy EBC, pos the head gasket if compression test is no good and pos a chipped ecu.
  15. thanks guys would that mean a rebuild kit for a t25 would do the job in a tb22? and if i was to get two t28 turbos are these a direct replacment and a slight upgrade? still not sure which road to go down with turbos! im not looking to change injectors etc..
  16. oh right im confused i thought they where garrett t25's!?!
  17. Can someone just confirm that TT manual use the garret t25 turbos please? And if anybody has taken on a turbo rebuild where the best place to get the kits from is? Thanks dave
