  11. Nice one you,ve cracked it , there is a parking ariel or whats left of one with the motor missing which is going to leave a hole about 20mm when removed unless I can get hold of a good one. Tried the red slider thingy (sorted) Thanks a lot guys.
  12. Not sure about that i,m afraid as I have only had my zx a couple of weeks but I will soon when I get it gassed as my aircon isnt working either but I expect low gas pressure to be the problem. On past cars I have shorted out two of the three or four wires that go to a switch in the top of the condenser (I think thats what its called but not sure its a cylinder about three inches in diameter and about six inches tall with a small window in the top through which you can see the liquid gas passing from a pipe into the cylinder.
  13. HI all. Being new to auto zx boxes there is something I need to know. What does the red sliding switch thingy do at the bottom if the stick. Also the switch in front and to the the left of the stick which has a picture of a stick on it and two arrows pointing up and down?
  14. YO Mark. IF you take the car to your local aircon geezer he will vacume the gas out (to save the ozone layer) then when the repairs are complete he will re gas it for you. Normaly when your aircon gets gassed they vac the system first anyway so you should get both visits for the same price as one. Ps. some aircon gas depending on age is harmless unless heated to a very high temp when it becomes lethal(such as drawn through a lighted cigarette) so no smoking if your open the pipes and dump the gas(not recomended).
  15. YO silverfox. I have had this problem befor on other vehicles and the problem has always been that when the gas pressure gets low a switch on the aircon condenser or there abouts switches the aircon pump off to stop damage to the compressor. the problem has probably caused by not using the aircon as the molecules of gas are so small they get through rubber and steel pipes, when you run the system, say once a day if pos you equalise the pressure each side of the compressor and thus do not have a side that has a high pressure so leaks slower. If you get your a/c re gassed the switch will allow the pump to start. (as explained to me in great detail by my friendly air con man.
