JAE discussion
Cheers Gary. I am not one to cause any trouble or unrest at all, but thought it would have been nice for the various clubs and forums that attend JAE to have a voice and opinion about the move. It is still my opinion that if the majority had been asked, then show and shine would stay on the Saturday. Last thing I will say on the matter as it looks as though some don't want it mentioned. Rant over......lmao

JAE discussion
Sorry, it's a forum, I thought that this type of discussion was what it is all about, obviousley I was wrong, but people do have different opinions from others and don't always see eye to eye and agree with every decission whether made by us on this site or organisers and other sites. Just one point, how do we know there was only going to be one 300 enter the show and shine?

JAE discussion
As I said, it doesn't have an affect on me personally and yes there will have been people who have reacted positively to the change. But it is in my opinion that the majority won't, hence I think it would have been fairer to have had discussions with all the car clubs that attend, so that the members would have had the chance to have their views heard on each forum, then taken the decission to move the show and shine or not after said discussions, rather than just a number of people in a room making the decission for everyone else. And this is just my opinion, not trying to upset anyone or offend anyone at all.

I know not everyone has every weekend off, I have agreed with you on that point, so I am not missing it. However the majority of the population do, that is why most major events take place over weekends, and they try not to move these events because it would not be in the interest of the majority. As I said, why not move the none car related events to the Friday and leave the car releated events to the Saturday and Sunday? Don't foget that some people have no doubt booked the Saturday and Sunday off if they do work weekends, expecting the show and shine to be when it has always been, and may find it diffficult to book the extra day now.

Exactly, they wouldn't move the Grand Slam for you and they hold that over a weekend, why? Because it is then that the majority can either attend or watch it, and that is what this discusson is getting at, why move the show and shine? I am sure there would be an outcry from people if they moved the Grand Slam, just like there is upset at JAE organisers moving show and shine. It is the fact that they have moved it that people are not happy with, why change something that has worked well for x amount of years? Like the Grand Slam, leave it the way it has always been.

I haven't said you are being abusive or personal, where did that come from? I agree you can't always please everyone with these sort of things, but had a vote been taken from the various car clubs that attend JAE, surely that would have been a more democratic approach, and given everybody the chance to have a say in the matter rather than just thrust it on everyone like it has been. I realise that not all car enthiasts work Monday to Friday, but why do you think that the majority of car shows throughout the UK are held at weekends? Because that is when the majority of people can attend them. Had this come down to a vote, I would say that the majority would have said to leave show and shine on the Saturday. Might I just add that I have nothing to gain from this discussion, I can attend whenever, but I don't enter show and shine, so it has no direct affect on me personally.

As you quite rightly say JAE is a three day event. But the whole idea of the event is to show cars. Why not move the fooball and other non car related activities to the Friday, and leave the Saturday for the true car enthusiasts that like to enter show and shine?

JAE discussion
Well said Steve, I for one agree. I really do think that this should have been discussed between each club that attend and feedback collected on the outcome of those discussions. It's ok saying that people can just take a day or half a day off work, but people can't always pick and choose when they take time off, or have already booked their annual leave entitlement. I was always allocated my annual leave and had no say as to when it was, I am sure there will be others in the same boat. Who has John spoken to that enters show and shine? How do they know who is going to enter it at this early stage? There must be new entrants each year, or is this a case of not what you know but who you know? I really do think it's a shame that people have spent a lot of time, money and effort on their cars in order to enter show and shine, only to find that they cannot enter because they either can't take the time away from work, or have a long journey and won't make it in time. As I have stated, no offence to anyone, just my views, and some other peoples views looking at the feedback just on here at the moment.

JAE discussion
I must say I think it's a bad idea to move the show and shine from the Saturday to the Friday. I would say it will disappoint a lot of people who have invested a lot of time and money in their cars to make them nice enugh for the show and shine only to find they are working on the Friday and unable to enter their cars, or who have a long distance to travel on the Friday and would not arrive in time. It seems a bit of a shame to me, not only for the members of our club, but for other members of different clubs who can only attend Saturday and Sunday IMHO. How come the organisers of JAE changed the show and shine is there a valid reason for the change? Can Jason and the Beast manage to get to the show early enough on the Frday to enter? No offence meant to anybody, just my thoughts on the change.

Im back in a zed!
Nice one Jim, that's a good looking Zed. I too am not a big fan of the rear lights, however I think that yours suits them, maybe it's a colour thing, look nicer on some colour of Zed's than others.
