1. Mother Nature's time of the month maybe?? :)
2. Mine is suffering the same thing. And, like you, it appeared not long after a full respray :( Like Pete says, new metal is the only way to keep it rust free for as long as possible. For financial reasons I'm just having to live with it for the moment but I hope to get them done is a year or so...
3. That's almost a very good photochop - except you can still read the word 'floor' on the reverse! Doh. Football = boring (unless I'm in the pub! ;))
4. People do odd things if they're tired etc. Could you have walked over the breadbin, picked up the rings then looked at the bread bin and think "where T.F. are they?", only to then put them back? Maybe it was your schizophrenic other half looking after them?? ;-) (No offence to all the MENTAL people on here intended)
5. I'm in the same boat as you by the sounds of things. My 4 year old Fuji S7000 was 'mislaid' in Cardiff a few weekends ago! :( so am now trying to find a suitable replacement.... The range of camera to which you refer are dubbed either 'Bridge' or 'super zoom' cameras because they're not DSLRs but they're not compacts either. FYI, my old S7000s spec was something this: 6x optical zoom (35-210mm) 6.3M pixel A good selection of manual controls etc (http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/fujifilm/fuji_finepixs7000.asp) Having spoken to a chap in Jessops he suggested the Fuji S8100FD as a suitable replacement. Having read some reviews though, it seems to be a superior in every way except for actual picture quality!: For example: http://www.trustedreviews.com/digital-cameras/review/2008/05/14/Fujifilm-Finepix-S8100fd/p1 So, now I'm not so sure. Anyway, I'm so far tempted by the following: Fuji S9600 (excellent pic quality, but no face detect or image stabilisation) Panasonic Lumix FZ18 or FZ20 Canon Powershot S5 (records video in stereo and allow zooming while recording) (See that Trusted Reviews website for reviews of all the above) There's no way I could afford a DSLR, and they do come with the extra hassle of having to clean the sensor etc which I could do without. This is the daddy camera btw!: http://www.pocket-lint.co.uk/news/news.phtml/10235/11259/Hasselblad-H3D-II-Digital-Camera.phtml Simon.
6. Having pondered the rust pics I must say that mine has, in the past, been in a similar condition. The floorpan required a little welding for the last MOT which I did myself and IMO made a good job of it. With regards to the other bits: - The front suspension member (or whatever it's proper name is) will rust around the edges of the steel pressings since they have sharp edges and paint doesn't hold on on such surfaces. (Unless you're engine has dripped oil all over it) - The oil cooler bracket will always rust because again its a pressing, but also because it's right at the front of the car and consequently gets battered by stones and other road debris. Other areas that will rust: - The diff is an iron casting - it'll rust (unless you leak oils of tranny fluid of course!) - The rear subframe is made up of pressings which will rust around the edges - The rear gearbox mount - same as above - The front diff bracket - same as above - Fuel tank straps (less common this one) - Rear seat belt bolts - The front crossmember - rusts lots. Firstly because it's made of pressings and also because Nissan decided to put a sponge insert between the rad and the crossmember which only promotes rusting as it naturally holds moisture against it for longer! Don't beat yourself up too bad - I'm sure you can get it sorted for a very reasonable fee. You have paid, IMO, a low price for a Z! Hope this helps and maybe makes you feel a little better..
7. Does it crunch as you shift from 3rd to 4th by any chance? I think the 4th gear baulk ring gets a battering one our cars and wears down a little too quickly.
8. Human's, at times, can be real dumb! I bet a small number of those idiots are generally nice guys, but mob mentality takes over and let the whole species down! :(
9. A mate of mine is well into his Beetle's and has had a pair of the tweed Z seats put into his blue bug. The seat height and everything is perfect. Just a thought...
10. Our neighbour's got the 996 - and that's a monster. It's got the loudest exhaust I've ever heard on a bike! You can *feel* the rumble in your chest when it's just idling outside. And we're inside the house with the double glazed windows closed!
11. Sounds like Jizzfest! :p
12. I don't know of anyone who's a) Actually bought one of these things until now or b) Put their car on a dyno and tested said device to see if it makes any difference whatsoever. Since you've already passed go, why not pay yer rent at the dyno centre and get some real results posted up? It would be interesting to see, although I think the jury might already know what the results will be. On a different train of thought: Connect a 12v bulb across across the wires and watch it light up when the engine is revving anything over idle!!
13. I can see a poll coming on here: "Where your fuel pump located!" ;) Anyway, before someone starts one, mine is in the tank accessed from the boot, and I have a 1991 UK TT. Si.
14. That numa numa guy was on telly t'other day - some compilation of the most watched online videos. Apparently, that video was just one of many he's done. However, he's only been watched about 20 million times! There was this one with over 80 million views: Si
15. Watching that made the ol sack clench up a bit - LOL - quality vid. Love some of the comments too: "wow, this guy can bone out faster then a nigga, if i had that skillz and balance.. shitttt ill never get caught up by em pigs" Stu... Check this one out @ 00:38: MUhahaha
16. If we were taking the older and in some cases deported members into account I'd say Wazza - aka 300z. Or maybe NELSON! Come on - we even have a smiley named after him!! i.e.: :nelson: If we're talking about current members well lets see - probably indianzx. To be honest you have to be a bit MENTAL to own a 300zx anyway - (read: 'glutton for punishment' with upkeep / maintenance / fuel economy etc) - but the most interesting people in society today are the colourful ones! If we all drove Skoda Fellacios our general chat section here would be a bit DULL :D
17. Too right (on all of the above). From a strictly financial POV for the parents, death would have been better! As they now have a human being to look after for the whole of their remaining lives and then some! I feel terrible for them all! I think part of the problem is that speed and driving like a cnut are both two different issues. For example, I like to put my foot down on the right roads, but that's about where it stops. Doing 70 in a 30 - jesus - that's just appalling! I might drift into the odd 40mph on occasion, and overtaking on a 30 - well that's usually strictly limited to overtaking the old granny doing 25 - but only if the visibility is there. We all like to push the boundaries a little, and other voices on here are right, even that comes back to bite us occasionally, but what mr child-maimer did was grossly pole-vault over the boundary and land himself in a world of shit. I hope he gets a good pasting in the clink! Daily!
18. Anyone need a drummer for a band??! If he can play the 'plastic buckets' like that he must be pretty good with the real things!!
19. What with him!!??? :x: Quick, somebody find ChrisC's 'I slept with a man' thread from ages ago :D
20. Gotta say.... the beetle looks better than the 350 in that state! LOL Oh and mgh297... There was this bird at college when I was there back in 96 - she had a beetle which she really drove with rear camber like that!! Must have eaten tyres for breakfast - unless someone makes a tyre with a shorter inner wall than the outer?
21. Yep, me too, even if his banter is a bit daft its quite 'fun'! Si, Bukem is cool. What do you think of Pendulum? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gW95OaAdoJ0 http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqh9N-Mw5E (amusing vid too!!) O and who remember's this?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ul5jGfaVGyw&feature=related (I grew up on early electronic stuff like this courtesy of my dad. And a pink Floyd etc....)
22. Hey aunty Stella, What do you think of these out of interest? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWRQ_In1KBA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4VpazaxHRA (This one's worth watching for video if nothing else!)
23. The 'box' LOL - looks like another word with a few other letters missing! :)
