dBa Decibel rating
18 times quieter no, it should be 4 times quieter to you ear. db's are measured logarithmically because that's how our ears perceive sound. Getting back to your issue: Depending on the nature of the print jobs etc, and budget of course, you could always buy that noisy printer you've always wanted - provided you buy an acoustic hood or enclosure for it.

Message to traders who sell HKS bits...
Hiya mate, Cheers for the offer, but the clutch is already on the car. All I really want the instructions for is my "Z book" - which contains all the receipts, pictures, manuals etc of all the replacement and after market parts I've bought. So far I've got an over-full 100mm deep ring binder full of paper work - which would make for a lengthly read if I even come to sell the car. Oh yeah, "nice n grabby" sums it up well! Sometimes (actually, quite often!) it will catch me out at the lights and end up stalling the car. Cheers

Spooky!
 Blimey - that really will shift then!

Spooky!
One of my neighbours has a 6.5L V8 Firebird from 73 - sounds exactly the same - even my wife asks: "does that sound right?" Also.... being as it sounds the same, does that mean he hasn't dropped the compression ratio I wonder? Isn't it a bad idea on a forced induction engine, unless he's only running about

Message to traders who sell HKS bits...
Hi, I've lost the instructions whch came with my triple plate clutch which I bought privately about 4 years ago now. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might download them or obtain a copy please? Cheers

Decat tube advice....
Cheers for the positive comments guys. I've ben umm-ing and arr-ing about those and the PetrolHeads NW stainless pipes. Still debating though but need to make my mind up quick because the car is on ramps outside with no back-bumper and will soon become the eye-sore of the street! There's nothing wrong with my current pipes really, I've already drilled out the cats (about 6 yrs ago), and capped of the AIV pipes (about 4 yrs ago), but they look naff and are waiting to be upgraded. Also, I'm rather hoping it'll make the exhaust a bit louder, because the Z is quiet as a pussycat, even with the Blitz realize exhaust!

Decat tube advice....
Morning all, Has anyone encountered these decat pipes before: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/90-96-NISSAN-300ZX-TURBO-STAINLESS-STEEL-DE-CAT-EXHAUST_W0QQitemZ8073662668QQcategoryZ38786QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem If so, are they any good? The pipes in the photos don't seem to have anyhere to fit the Oxygen sensors. Also the gaskets for the turbos would require modification to get around the gas seperator. (But I'd stick with the standard gaskets anyay, since I've got a spare pair in the garage). Nice day innit!!!

ACT TT street clutch
Hi Mate, not really a fair comparison, but I used an ACT with street disc for a year and was quite happy with it. Although I had to change it after my first dyno session - since my engine mods were producing causing it to slip (dyno'd at 354 rwhp - see dyno section). If you've only got mild mods then the street will be fine and is as smooth as standard. I think it holds about 330 NM's. The disc you refer to is a bronze paddle disc? If so it'll be a PITA if you get stuck in traffic!

resister mod
There's loads of these things for sale on eBay. All a pretty bad idea unless you've got a well trained ear! The HKS AFR (http://www.grahamgoode.com/hks/parts2.php#afr) is basically the same thing i.e it's just a variable resister to reduce the voltage on the MAF signal.

Crap joke anyone?
Lol - thats terrible!! Mixing me toasties - dahhhhhhh! :)

I need new pants!!!
If you've got a lowered rear end and haven't corrected the camber then a lot of extra weight is put on the inside edge of tyre. That coupled with it being under inflated would probably lead to what happened. Si.

resister mod
The "resistor mod" does indeed lean out the mixture - but it does so across the whole rev range when the ECU is in open loop mode. I would seriously not recommend these mods unless you know what detonation sounds like, so you can back off the throttle if you hear it at high rpms! Get yourself a half-decent AFR gizmo like the HKS super AFR: http://www.grahamgoode.com/hks/parts2.php#superafr and get your cardown to your local dyno centre. Regards Simon.

car started 29times with the error code 12 AFM
Mate, Check the AFM is actually connected if it is then its probably a safe bet to say your AFM has died. I'm sure it would be far cheaper to buy a second hand AFM from another member / eBay to see if it has, than driving all that way (for you) to ztech. This looks like a good bet http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JDM-Z32-300ZX-AIR-FLOW-METER-AFM-VG30DETT-30P00_W0QQitemZ8067670112QQcategoryZ33557QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ...and if it turns out not to be the AFM - you'll probably get that back on eBay anyway - so nothing lost. Hope this helps

Fitted Poly bushes tonight.........

Fitted Poly bushes tonight.........
Yep, used a drill and hacksaw blade on mine actually. Had to use a vice to pop the first flange into the hole first :) THEN, I was able to push the rest in by hand. How bad where your old ones? Mine had leaked everywhere, and the car definitely felt more positive on the brakes and a little better on the steering too after fitting the poly bushes.

Show off!! :) One vice and lot of WD40? Or have you got a press? Simon.

Twin Boost Gauges?
The balance bar only irons out small rinkles in the boost pressure. When there's a problem with one turbo, where its under or over boosting its no longer able to cope with the flow. Say for example, one of your actuators got stuck in the closed position. If you read the boost pressure from the 'heathly' side, or the balance bar, it would only show normal to little over normal pressure, when at high load, you'd be running quite lean on the side with the stuck actuator - v.bad news! Closer to home, and more likely than a stuck actuator, is that the car will run rich at high load on one bank if you have a boost leak or knackered turbo - bad for MPG and not good for performance - both seem to afflict us Z owners quite regularly. Just my 2p

Polished Plenums
Hi Smithy, Just wondered what you would recommend to keep them looking this good? Would normal car polish hold back the dredded white oxidisation? Cheers Simon.

Getting block machined
Hi Mate, Contact Coltec Racing engines on 01473 738 738. Richard there has worked on many Z blocks, including my own, and does have several sets of torque plates for different block sizes. Regards Simon.

Dipsticks!!
Usually, if your PCV values are clagged up - stopping them from sealing properly, you'll pop the dip stick under boost. Hope this helps.

broadband speed
Hi Dipone, Your router will only resync at a higher speed once you reset it. Bear in mind, that even if your line can support close to 8Mb, it'll only step up slowly (after every resync). So you may find resetting once a day for a few days will provide you with your optimum speed. Hope this helps Simon.

Part identification
The two snorkle tubes suck air from the wheelarches into the OEM airbox. This I guess a) Stops water ingress from the front, and b) cuts down on induction noise. If you upgrade your air filter you can pull them out. Hope this helps...

HELP!! huge hesititation today
Hi Geeky, What you describe is exactly when my car does when I'm running very low on fuel. According to the Nissan service manual, there's a flow sensor which cuts the power to the fuel pump if it stops picking up. Presumably, the remaining fuel is sitting at the rear of the tank under full acceleration, so there's nothing to suck up. Don't worry about it too much- although it's terribly embarrassing when a) showing off or b) over taking! Hope this helps. Simon.
