  1. Thanks SLICKTOP, I will have another poke around tomorrow. I am running wider rears, so a swap isn't possible, however I can put my stock wheels back on the front and see if there is any difference. From memory, I had the shakes on them too but I will try them again tomorrow...
  2. Thanks for this...sky box at the ready...
  3. I did post something on this last year but it's now worse than ever...OK...here goes... At ANY speed from 50mph upwards my steering sometimes shakes quite severely. The challenge is that is doesn't do it all the time. Sometimes I can cruise at 70 and it's completely shake free and then some other times I can be cruising at 70 and the steering wheel is shaking very severely! I have tried to look for speed trends, road type trends, car hot trends, car cold trends and I can't find anything that triggers it! Some journeys will be as smooth as you like and on other journeys I arrive at my destination feeling like I have Parkinsons disease. To give you the full picture, so far I have done the following... New discs, pads and caliper overhaul (Zedworld) Poly steering rack bushes Japspeed front torsion bars Japspeed lower front brace (yes I did get it to fit!) Poly bushes on the front a rear anti-roll bars New WolfRace alloys and Falken tyres (not new anymore) 4 Wheel alignment and balancing on a brand new, calibrated machine...twice just to make sure I jacked the car up today and took the front wheels off to have a closer look around (not that know what I am looking for!). When I took the wheels off, I also noticed that the inside inch of the tread on both front tyres is completely bald. The rest of each tyre has loads of tread left on it. I know this can't be the alignment or balancing after having it done twice in the last 3 months, but I suspect it has something to do with the intermittent vibration... The car is booked into ZedWorld in a couple of weeks to have a new prop shaft (this is preventative and not linked to the vibration I am describing here), so I will ask Jeff and Jamie to take a look when I go up. In the meantime any help on what to look for would be greatly appreciated as I use my Zed everyday and this intermittent shake is really getting to me now! Thanks in anticipation...
  4. Voted...it's great to see the Zed in the lead. 28% of the vote, top job!
  5. Hi, I have a JDM TT Auto that I drive every day and it has always been slow from cold. When the temp starts to increase all is fine. To put your mind at rest, I cover around 15K miles per year and it's always been the same. As VodkaShots says, its there to protect the engine and gearbox until everything is warmed up.
  6. I think it's great...to me it's part of the fun of owning a Zed. So far I have had an extensive disagreement with a man at my local BP station. He refused to believe it was a K reg and practically accused me of displaying a fake number plate! At a Waitrose petrol station the chap at the till was convinced it was the new Lotus Evora! At the services on junction 2 of the M40 a man in a Porsche GT3 asked me what it was and where he could get one! To cap it all, I was driving on the M25 a couple of weeks ago and two men in an Audi R8 slowed down and pulled along side me. They spent about a minute looking at the Zed and having a conversation between head turning and pointing...brilliant...and how much had they just spent?! Long live the mystery of our cars and the conversations they spark!:smartass::whistling:
  7. I am with Admiral with all my mods declared and class 1 business use...and I do between 15K and 20K mileage per year and it's £425 fully comp... Check them out, they are superb. Good luck.
  8. It was a great day, thanks for your hospitality (Jeff, Lynda, Jamie and Danni), have a very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2012!...and Jeff...get some sleep!
  9. Many congratulations to both of you...Lynda you must know more about Zed's than Jeff does now! All the very best. Andrew & Ana
  10. I have exactly the same problem and like you, the nuts came with the kit..ugh..I damaged my wheels at the back too. I got on to the supplier and they said that those were the only nuts supplied with the kit and they will fit some wheels if the rebates on that back of the alloys are big enough!...hmmm. I am still trying to find the right size nuts to fit them. As a temporary measure I am using ordinary 5mm spacers which doesn't fill me with much confidence. I think I may get directly in touch with Eibach and see what they say. In the meantime if anyone else comes across the slimmer nuts, please do post the details.
  11. I think we should keep the bad mod pictures coming, they are brilliant...but I think we should stop the bad 300 mod pictures...they are too distressing...I can't look!
  12. I am a smoker and smoke in my car...in fact I spend most of my life in my car on long journeys (yes I do take my Zed). I agree that it should be each to their own, we are getting dangerously close to breaching human rights now I believe. I think people should be allowed to do what they want as long as it doesn't negatively impact others...right, popping outside for a smoke.
  13. I used WD40 and just kept applying it over 4 hours or so. Eventually they gave in...with a 3ft extension bar. Best of luck.
  14. I have been running the kit supplied by Zed Centre for 2 years now. It was easy to fit (I am no mechanic!), 100% reliable and a must if you want to see where you are going. As above, it is the 6000K with slim ballasts. HTH
  15. Great photo's thanks for sharing them.
  16. Firstly good luck with your search. On the subject of fuel consumption, I run a 93 jap spec TT with a couple of light mods (HKS air intakes - JapSpeed exhaust). I use the car daily and cover around 15,000 miles a year. On average I get 300 miles per tank and if I have my lead boots on, it drops to around 200 miles per tank...still pretty respectable for the amazing performance. I am no mechanic, but with some great advice from this site coupled with the amazing work that ZedWorld do, I am loving every moment of ownership (yes the ups and the downs), so rest assured the knowledge is here on this site to help you, go for it...just prepare yourself...you will get hooked!
  17. It would be great to know how you find their work...I am only in the next county and want to get mine resprayed next year and I'm looking for a trusted paint shop.
  18. (JapSpeed) A longer centre piece is definately required, they are very close to the end of the thread when fitted. I am all over the country at the moment and when I get a chance I will post some photo's of mine fitted (thanks for the prompt HollowPoint).
  19. Hi, Just noticed this thread. (HollowPoint) you are right I am running a standard rad. The brace does sit very close to the lower rad pipe and I did run the engine to pressure up the system before dropping it off the axle stands and it seems fine. I know what you mean about the last couple of threads, it is close and could do with a larger centre piece for our cars due to their width. I think the brace is designed to fit most Nissans and isn't specifically for our 300's and as a result it is close to the limit. Japspeed are great people and I am sure they will look after you if you speak to them tomorrow. All the best.
  20. I fitted an additional earthing kit from http://www.groundingkits.co.uk/ it made an amazing difference to the earth circuit including making lights brighter and sharper gear changes on my autobox. I am sure your car will benefit if earth resistance is high. Hope this helps.
  21. Hi Jeff, We have similar challenge with a slow exchange in our village. One thing that made quite a difference was fitting one of BT's broadband accelerators. It's free and very easy to fit...the link is here... http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=25075 Hope this helps.
  22. I had a similar thing a couple of weeks ago...when I stopped at traffic lights and selected neutral, the revs increased to around 1200. I did all the checks you mention and found it was a poor connection in the grey connector from the TPS. A clean up with a bit of WD40 did the job and now idling back at 850. Hope this helps...
