Hi Ceejay Can you book me in. Supposed to be getting my Z from body shop this week . Waited 2 years for her to be finished. Would be a good time to show her off for the first time. Regards Kev
  2. Why does increasing the front offset above +20, mean problems? i would have thought the only time you would get problems is if the wheel was moved into the car, as it could rub against suspension or bodywork. The reason i ask is i will be looking at changing my standard 16" to some new 19". Thanks for any input. sorry for hi-jacking Regards Kev
  3. Hi Guys Just purchased 3 defi gauges, 60mm dia. Want to fit them into A pillar pod. The pod has 60mm diameter holes in to take the gauges, but how do you hold them in?? My old 52mm Auto gauges, had brackets that hold them in. Any help would be appreciated Regards Kev
  4. Hi People I could do with some advice. My car has been at a body shop for a long time !!!! i could do with starting it, as i have been told an idle engine, is BAD. It probably has not be run for 8 months to a year. Can you advise what the best method is of starting the engine without damaging the engine / bores. Some people say that you can break rings score bores etc. What is the best method? The car has a new TT engine which has only done 2000 miles. Someone told me to remove the plugs, heat some oil until it smokes, then pour a bit into each cylinder, leave for a while to penetrate, fit plugs etc, then turn over and run. Is this correct? or is there some better method? All advise welcome. Regards Kev
  5. I'm currently looking at buying 362mm DIA fronts AP racing http://www.stillen.com/product.asp?id=APBRKIT6P&c=BR&b=AP%20Racing&year=&make=&model= You need to decide on the manufacturer and size of brakes, they should then be able to give you the miniumum clearance template. You then remove a wheel and place a cutout template in the wheel to se if it colides. If it does you will then have to space out. Regards Kev
  6. Had this myself. As the guys have said, the bolt that goes through the nylon bush is too tight. It needs to be slightly loose. The nut will not come off as it is a nyloc, normally. Tighten to torque settings will cure the problem. I fitted mine originally did not read the instructions, as looks easy to fit, had the problem. Removed and started again to instructions problem gone. Regards Kev
  7. Is this the same for a uk model ? As i thought uk had different size wheels to JDM. if so what is the standard offset for uk Z?
  8. Hi people Can anyone tell me where i can buy a set of decat pipes to fit a UK spec series 2. I brought a set off Chris Nolan :xxx: a couple of years ago. but they have never fitted properly. Typical crap quality off a crook. My only other option is to cut them up and fit flexible pipe in between. but would prefer to buy a set that fit well? Thanks for any input. Regards Kev.
  9. Would anyone have a power/torque for of both so we can see how power is produced over the rev range?
  10. Hi guys Decide to get a price for AP 14" brake set. they come with mintex extreme high performance pads. i know people say mintex pads are really good. but would the extreme be to hard for fast road, etc. Car is running about 450bhp at fly. plan on future pushing 500 rwhp. Or would i be better going for Ferodo DS2500. Thanks for any advice. Regards Kev
  11. So are K-Sport brake kits not htat good?? if so why? Just curious. Regards Kev
  12. Hi Guys I own a uk spec 1993 TT. It also has dim dip. To dissable it you have to cut all the wires. i know it plugs into to small green box shown on pic, just below AIV. Not sure if you could just unplug, to do the same thing. hope this helps. Regards Kev
  13. Hi guys My car is currently at bodywork plus have a custom bodykit fitted. engine performance about 450 bhp. plan on fitting 19" 3 piece trafficstar wheels. Due to increased performance and size of wheels, standard brakes will look lost. i originally planned on fitting Hi-spec motorsport monster 6 360mm Diameter brakes on front and 330mm on rear. But, at the bodyshop there is another car being moded, which already has hi-spec brakes on. The guys at the bodyshop said they are poor quality! That under hard braking the calipers open, and feel soft. they said i should fit AP. Can anyone tell me if they have any experience with Hi-spec brakes. The kit is going to cost about £2200. I don't want to waste me money. I have also seen K-sport - don't know what they are like. Brembro - are too expensive. AP - look ok Your input would be appreciated. Regards Kev
  14. I am just have a strosec bumper fitted. It came with the bumper fog lights, if thats what you mean? I am not going to use them, so they are brand new. They are at Bodywork Plus, at the moment but could post to you in 2-3 weeks time when i go up to him next if the price was right? Otherwise, luke at the Z-centre, might sell you a pair? Let me know. Regards Kev ps, where did you get the strosec bumper from?
  15. Can anyone tell me if, a UK spec 300zxtt 1993. When you press the brake pedal this operates the rear calipers. Does the hand brake operate the rear calipers, or is there a drum brake system tucked away? Unfortunately, at the moment my car is still at Bodywork Plus having bodykit fitted. So i cannot look at the brakes. Regards Kev
  16. Hi Guys Does anyone know if the rear brakes on a 300ZX are the same as a 200SX S14? I am looking at buying front and rear Hi Spec Brakes. They know the front brake requirements. But are not sure on the rears. If i can find out what they are the same as, they can manufacture the brackets without me needing to take the car down. Otherwise they will make on the car, which will cause me a problem. I wanted the brakes, before buying new alloy wheels so that i can get the correct offset. Currently i have standard 16" wheels, but the big brakes need minimum of 18". Any help appreciated. Regards Kev
  17. Cheers guys. My Z is at Bodywork plus. Side vent cut down sides of both door, strosec front end, widened strosec rear arches, strosec rear bumper, toyota supra veilside C2 carbon fibre rear wing. Plus, other minor tweaks. was planning on having in Lamborghini orange Arancio Atlas. When i saw pic of standard Z started to get worried. I think a deep pearl orange with deep dish chrome wheels works. Regards Kev
  18. Anyone got any pics of bodykitted Z's in orange? Especially wide arched Z's?? regards Kev
  19. Hi Guys As Karl said only through practise can you hone your skills. i still believe driving skill days are great insight into what you need to know. it is up to you to practise waht they teach. in a safe location. i recently got invited to a Palmer Audi Sport day. it was the best driving experience ever!! http://www.palmersport.com They do special 1 day events, where a race driver, drives you around their track in some hight performance car, teach you the basics. You then have a go for a bit. Then they will take you out in your car teach you again. Then allow you to drive your car for as long as you like, or your car can withstand for the day. Some of the tracks are in the middle of an open area so if you span off you could not hit anything anyway. The only problem is that generally road cars cannot withstand a contant pounding on a track so be warned. Also the guys who teach you a MAD!! They will contantly push you to the limit, which is brilliant. Well worth the money. Regards Kev
  20. Do any of you guys know how much is a rear window is? My car is being worked on at Bodywork Plus, they are going to remove rear window. Thinking of fitting new rear window to do a pukka job. Is the only place to get the rear window and seal from a Nissan dealer? Kev
  21. Andy Could you explain for me where the clutch switch is on a manual? is it down by the pedals? Kev
  22. Tried to do this myself some time ago. The drain plugs are almost impossible to get to. The passenger side bolt is just above the cross member support. The drivers side is about 3" behind the alternator, which has to be removed. All i did is removed the ali coolant pipes off engine, as it was too much of a job. Regards Kev
  23. Geeky A quick note. like you say UK spec 300's have a Dim-dip circuit built in them. This will cause problems if you just wire a HID kit in. If yours is a UK spec, your best bet is to buy you kit from Luke at the Z-centre. http://www.zcentre.co.uk He sells the kit, fitting instructions, and the instructions to bypass Dim-Dip. No one else here does that. Just a warning. Regards Kev
  24. You havent got dim dip! Regards Kev
  25. Its under the passenger arch. A green box, but this is only on UK models! if you fit HIDs to your car with dim dip in action they will malfunction. nedd to find out how to dis-able. Only way i know, is to buy any HID upgrade from Luke at the Zcentre> He is the only person who can tell you. Regards Kev
