Scooter Or mini?
Get a little old school scirocco - i paid £500 for mine - only 65000 on the clock - cheap insurance, small and nippy but practical too - just a golf in a skirt really. Cant nip through traffic like a scooter though, but it doesn't matter if it rains.

Insurance
I just got off the phone with a load of insurance companies, and i have to say that even with our Club discount - Adrian Flux were miles off. I'm 31 - 7yrs NCB - clean license. I'm sure that for some they have been the best, and this is what the guy on the end of the phone kept telling me, but they quoted £790 - and if i wanted to pay over 10 months it was going to cost me £911.90!! (over £120 quid extra?) Heritage - £570.86 and the winner...... - Carol Nash £529.10 Lynbrook were the best for classic policy with limited milage (8000miles) - £227.63. If anyone is looking to renew soon i would suggets speaking to those that i have just listed. I hope that i don't get in trouble, and i don't want to bad mouth anybody, but i was just a bit surprised when Adrian Flux must be a sponsered link or something cos the advert keeps flashing at me - and they were just so far away on price. Anyway - like i said I'm sure that they are best for some people - just not me i guess. Anyway I got it sorted and i'm a happy man.

Graphics or No Graphics
All those graphics just make it look as if your trying too hard. understated is better in my humble opinion.

finished with the girlfriend
Mate, i agree with pub man - you gotta try and get some food down ya. I know it seems impossible to do anything, but you must try, even if you just have a bit of soup or something. Also i agree with letting it lie a bit, see what happens, and in the meantime we are all here if you want a chat or just someone to let off steam to. You are not alone bud, don't forget that.

From one newbie to another i can say that you have: 1) bought one of the best (if not one of the most loved) cars that you will ever own, and 2) joined one of the most friendly and helpful clubs that i have ever come across have fun P

What do you do for a living?
I'm an Area Youth Worker and building manager, and i work with kids from 12 to 19 Day to day.... anything really - running a centre - delivering face to face work, supervising staff, dealing with police or social services, i work in schools around issues such as substance misuse and sexual health. Shedloads of H&S nonsense, mediation, facilitation, multi agency stuff, anything and everything really. i love it - the kids i work with tend to be the naughty ones, scallys etc so its pretty varied.

The joys of Zed ownership?
Today has been the first day that it has rained since i got my Zed.... and i'm sorry to say that she doesn't hold water so well... whats the score with the targa tops? do they all leak after time or have my rubbers gone or something like that? It seems that it is concentrated at the front of the panels, and a bit of water coming in on the passenger window seal Any advice?

finished with the girlfriend
Hi mate, you've allready taken the first step and that is to start talking, and trying to understand your feelings. I think that i can speak for all of us and say that we have all been heartbroken and lets be honest it hurts so bad that you dont know how you will ever cope again. BUT... as many have said on this thread, you need to own those feelings a bit, fully experience them, and keep expressing yourself in a safe and supportive environment. I think that all of us here share your pain and would be happy to lend a friendly ear or shoulder if thats what you want. dont ever apologise for expressing your true feelings, many people will never have the strength, ability or courage to do so, and i for one applaude you for feeling and being able to speak up. It is very easy for us to say that there are plenty of fish in the sea etc, and even though this is in fact true, i know from personal experience that nothing seems further from the truth during this hard time. Communication is key, either in this relationship or any other for that matter, for with lack of or poor or miscommunication the result is misunderstanding, fear and ultimately lack of understanding and empathy. so again i give you much respect for communicating your feelings with us. I would however pose the question "were you as honest and open with her as you have been with us? and likewise was she with you?" Nothing i can say will solve this situation, or make it any easier to cope with, but know that i for one feel honored that you would share your thoughts and feelings with us, and if there is anything that i can do to help, then please do not hesitate to ask. stay strong, and keep in touch. paul

Gurgling noise
Hi all, i hope someone can shed some light: Having had my Zed for a few weeks now, i am slightly worried, as i have just started to hear a gentle gurgling noise coming from the drivers side at the back of the engine. Only noticeable when the car is idling, and if you go to the front of the car (bonnet open you cant hear it, but if you bend down with your head near the steering wheel (ie with the door open) then you can hear it. It sounds a bit like fluid gurgling or bubbling through a system - this is the only way to describe it really. Any ideas? Thanks - a worried newbie:confused:

Drink Driving
Not too sure mate, the questions asked when applying for insurance are: any accidents claims or convictions in the last 5 years? and you are also asked if you have ever been disqualified or refused insurance? since he was banned for 2 years i think that he would have to disclose this at this point, or else insurance would be invalid, and i guess if he had no accidents or anything then no problem - but if he did, i am sure that the insurance company would use this as a breach of contract, and would then not pay out in event of a claim, and subsequently he would be done for driving without insurance. This said, it shouldn't effect the actual premium. The ban can be completely removed from license in 11 years. I think thats right, my brother is an insurance broker so i'll ask in tomorrow. P
