Dunno about the converter/delimiter, zedworld swapped the cluster as it was a Jap one which did have a converter - but jaime @ zedworld said that by changing the cluster to a uk one that it would sort all converter/limited speed malarky? And yeah - i topped the steering fluid right up.

Any mods out there who can move this to the help and advice section please?

Since i swapped my speedo cluster and had the ecu upgraded, I had a couple of weeks enjoying her and then all of a sudden the last few days i've had a few problems with my Zed :( 1) The speedo works fine most of the time, but sometimes the needle indicating speed does not work or suddenly drops down to zero and then flicks back up when it was working. All the other needles seem to work fine. 2) Every now and then the steering feels heavy (i think this has only happened when the speedo is not working) then the HICAS light comes on and stays on. If i switch the engine off then start her up again - it often feels fine again, and the light does not re appear. 3) Sometimes when the above happens, it still feels heavy after restarting and the POWER light flashes 10 or 15 times. 4) I have noticed that when driving gently or when breaking and the engine is allowed to reduce revs all the way down to an idle, the revs are sometimes dropping a bit low but seem to level at 8-900 rpm but have actually dropped enough to cut out twice. (Upon restarting the the car she runs fine again.) 5) On the way home tonight she slipped back into safe mode it seems, as i can't get full boost on the turbos, even when flooring it and she's way slow. I parked it on the drive and had some dinner - I took her out again to see if there was any difference, and just to check i put my foot down, and the boost was back and felt fast again. Sadly not for long, when pushed again half a mile down the road, the boost was reduced, as was the speed... sodding safe mode again. The speedo started playing straight after the swap (on the way home from Zedworld) but was dead cheap so was a bit of a gamble i guess - but had been nothing more than annoying till it flicked back into life, so no harm done. But the other stuff has all started only in the last 2-3 days, and is a bit more worrying. I think that really i am going to take her to see Jeff again when i get paid to get everything running smoothly - but i have to go to Brighton on the weekend, and there's the meet at the Punchbowl. What do you guys think? Safe to drive down there or am i just tempting fate? Also any advice on any of the above would be really appreciated.

Welcome to the club. I too am pretty new to Zeds, but i have fallen in love with the mighty 300zx :bow: You will find some really good guys and gals on here, and as much advice and helpfull hints as you can handle. When you get your car, maje sure you post some nice piccies ;)

I picked up a decent LWB TT Auto for £1450 - so far i have had to spend £125 sorting the thermostat, and she runs perfect. It only had 70k on the clock - no rust underneath, no major defects, just the odd car park dink and many stone chips in the bonnet. I have however spent money on chipping it - and will be spending more on a new induction kit and exhaust. The comment about getting the bug is spot on - and already i am budgeting a certain ammount each month to put towards the "Zed Fund" which will be for any emergencies that pop up or any mods that catch my eye. I think that with 3K to spend you would find something nice - BUT i would recommend taking someone who knows these cars with you on any viewing, as what appears to looks nice might well be a bit of a dog underneath. Insurance.... how long is a piece of string? i have classic car insurance limited to 8K a year I'm 31 with 7yrs NCB - it costs me £223 a year - or Carol Nash quoted about £550 for a full modern policy (no limitations etc) Anyways - I hope you find what you are looking for.

Sounds to me like you already know what you want to do in your heart, but you want a bit of convincing so, get the Zed done - enjoy, and then if you still want the NSX then you can.

Talk to Boomin33 on here - i played golf with then guy the other week - really nice bloke (who happened to kick my arse at golf, but the less said about that the better:cry:). But more importantly for this thread, he has a track prepped 300zx (check out his rides - very nice car) and a honda NSX so i reckon he could give you a pretty fair and experienced comparison of the two. for my two pennies worth - i love the Zed but the NSX is stunning - even rarer and more of a head turner.

I took her for a bit of a test drive today as the roads were dry - much better, :D I find if i want to really get it to pull, i'm having to go through the gears rather than leave it in D, and press the old overdrive button, but she is much, much quicker than before, i am a happy man :):) I cant wait to get some cash together and sort the new exhaust and induction kit.

Its gotta be black with a big red stripe and fat alloys...... can you guess? you hear me sucka - i pity the fool who don't know my van!!

i would say that i'm looking for a jack of all trades type exhaust, with a a bit of all of the above - a nice look, nice sound and a bit of extra kick but can you explain what are the benefits of an x pipe over an h - or visa versa? Budget - well i wouldn't want to go crazy - but i know that i'm looking at a good few hundred quid fitted whatever i go for. Any system particularly recommended for the zed?

What do you guys reckon is the best exhaust for a LWB auto? How much performance increase can you expect from a decent exhaust system? I'm looking to upgrade and would like some advice. thanks

Well i got the bits done today and changed my clocks to uk - so managed to get rid of the gentle bonging when i went over 60 odd mph, and got rid of the limiter all in one fail swoop. (also allows me to use cruise control at greater speeds now) Unfortunately it was peeing down most of the way home, and i didn't want to rag the nuts off it just in case, but it definitely seemed to have a bit more grunt on the motorway . I think that i need to get a new induction kit and exhaust asap. I am quite keen to get this baby up to speed so if you guys have any tips then i'm all ears. what sort of exhaust and induction kit do you suggest for max power increase? Then where to next after chip, induction, exhaust? I hope its dry tomorrow so i can have a proper spin and see what she's saying.

Mate, I have no mechanical skills or parts - but i think that you and your offer have just shown what being part of a club is all about, and epitomizes the general spirit that i have been met with from all the members i have encountered. I echo Vins comment :bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow::bow: If there is anything that i can do to help - I make a mean cup of tea/coffee - can move heavy objects - and generally lend a hand then you can add me to the list of those willing to help. I mean with your call to the community, and what with me being a youth and community worker i just couldn't ignore the call to arms. I'm @ Zedworld as we speak looking at Craigs car - and it does seem very sad to let such a beauty die a death. Someone on one of the threads said that this great white should be put to rest - and that might well be the case, but i think that the offer you have made and the other generous offers from others means that poor old Craig at least has a few options now.
