Any plans for another Red Lyon meet...?
Yes mate, I'm looking forward to it. I managed to get my car booked in for an MOT with Dave (pub Owner)....... however it is at 8.30am!!!!! I don't even know what 8.30am looks like!!! Just spent the day trying to sort a few bits like a rusty indicator bulb holder and the sodding washer jets so as to give her a fighting chance of passing tomorrow.... we'll see. Annoying though as i wanted to finish off the window trims and give her a clean and polish... but heigh ho, such is life. On a plus note, i phone the insurance company to renew my policy, but she is still insured and all up to date, so bit of a bonus there. Likewise i managed to borrow a dremmel off a mate and have choped up my undertray and managed to make it fit back on so there is no gaping hole underneath now... which is nice. See you all tomorrow for a decent bit of pub grub!!!

fire
hmmm, I love a good bonfire... got a bit of a history with flames... i mean... who doesn't love a good old burn up? I won't go into too much detail with regards to some of said history, but lets just say, this particular occasion involves a small mountain range in Mallorca, a load of Guardia Civil armed with autos and a stretch of their training ground, 2 x 13 yr old boys (one of them being me) a jail cell, the chief of police, a couple of fire planes... you know the ones that land on the water, then drop it elsewhere.... oh yeah also gotta chuck into the mix; my dad, an estate agent and Father Juan, a particularly high ranking priest in the Balearics at the time. Add all that together and let's just say, I was not flavour of the month! and since it is topic of conversation.... Lets have some decent tunes involving fire:

I recommend Plastidip
mine are too mate: I think that it will work just fine, I'm not even going to try and remove all the black left on the trim, I will be just spraying over the top. (I'll also go over the other roof trim that is ok so that the colour matches) I do see the plastidip as a temporary fix, and ultimately I will be buying all new trim, but at a later date. I will be doing them all this weekend, and I will post the before and after pics for you all.

I screwed the mesh in place the the bumper is an original WW it is made of polyurathyne and it has thicker bits round the inside of the mouth to screw into. I wouldn't know what to do if it was fibreglass. I guess tiger seal or something?

I read that too, I reckon if you sprayed it onto something that had a rough or more porous surface then it would stick much better. Don't get me wrong, It's pretty bloody good on the smooth metal finish under the trim, it doesn't slip or move or anything. If you do a youtube search you can see people removing it to give you a better idea. ps your zed looks lush mate. Nice sig

It's pretty close to be fair mate. If anything, the trim along the targa top is the one which is noticeably different. I need to give mine a bit of TLC and then i reckon they'll look spot on similar. I was thinking about doing the scuttle panels too, so as to get a nice consistant colour and finish to all my trim. I'm gonna do it all in one hit next weekend. It won't last forever as I'm not using the primer, but It will most definitely last me for a while.

Like lots of Zeds I have seen out there, it is the little things that make the car look its age, One of the main culprits are the tired looking trims which eventually degrade and start to show the metal beneath. I just wanted to try this stuff (Plastidip) out on my window trim as a quick experiment to see if it was worth doing or to just bite the bullet and buy a load of rather expensive trim. So I cleared most of the old trim from the drivers side window trim with a stanley knife and nearly cut my fingers off to boot.... some of the old trim just pulls away easily, and some really doesn't want to move. I taped up the bits around the trim and went to work.... Just started applying thin layers back and forth until it was well and truly covered.Really easy to use and as long as you keep the can about 9 or 10" away from the car it doesn't clog up or sag etc. I left it to dry for a few hrs and when i returned I used the stanley knife to cut carefully along the edge of the trim. And this is what i was left with: close up: Not too bad. I did not use the primer which I might well do next time as I also did one of the little short trim bits at the back of the targa top, but as I hadn't cut it properly before i removed the tape and paper, it just tugged the edge up of the plastidip so i ended up removing it all and thought that although it holds nicely... It is pretty easy to peel it all off, and I guess the primer makes it stick much better. Either way, 1 x can of plastidip = £15 which would be easily enough to do all my trims, so I'm gonna do them all as a very cheap and effective way of holding off the inevitable purchase of new trim..... leaving me more £££s to spend elsewhere on the car  Oh, I also finally got round to sticking a bit of mesh on my bumper, just need to trim my undertray a bit to fit and then that can go back on there to.

I nearly bought one of these !
Very cool indeed, my Dads cousin had a Le Mans one in black which looked the nuts. I do love a car that you don't see many of.
