  1. parked with a honda in the camping field. I was in the VW camper next to you. Also silver zed with vented wings on the strip, non turbo i guess?
  2. Sounds like a dead box to me too, go directly for a manual conv!
  3. I was meant to be going, but my mate decided to shave off 1 of my eye brows & make me a bald patch in the crown area! It is funny but i still feel a tw@t so giving it a miss i think, do keep looking at my hat though? Love to see a zx on the track, have a good time and remember to press record! Cheers Steve
  4. Hi, i have steam coming from the drivers side of the engine, the leak must be higher than the manifold/turbo as i can hear it drip on them, any ideas what i could be please? And if its the plenum hoses, can you bypass without removing the plenum? Just had another look, and its dripping onto the turbo in line with the turbo's water feed/banjo bolt. Had to leave the car at my mums, think i'll wedge the didgy camera in and take a snap, see if that shows me anything! Thanks Steve
  5. got a text earlier today, it followed> in a recent interveiw, steve irwin was asked what his favourite tv show was as a child, he replied 'thunderbirds, although there was always a place in my heart for stingray' It was unlucky, but he new all the risks i think!
  6. Another interesting little job, hope it is something straight forward, always fear the worst with my 300! Thanks Steve
  7. Oh right! Still havent had chance to disconnect the coils and find the faulty cylinder yet. Ended up going to trax instead, hopefully get chance one night after work, i'll let you know what i find?? Thanks Steve
  8. Not cleaned PTU or checked temp sensor. Looked to be running rich to me with all the plugs bar one black and sooty, the other was just dark grey (n/s/r cylinder) Has just been driven in and out the garage for a week though. I will try the coil test tmoz, hopefully point me in the right direction? You can always find something wrong with a 300! Cheers Steve
  9. Ile go with above too! email me please if you go ahead, money ready here aswell! Im hopeless at following up with posts! get_there1st@btinternet.com Cheers Steve
  10. Ive not checked compression, hoping its nothing that severe! you dont think it could be a coil then? Cheers Steve
  11. Hi all, ive had a missfire for a while now, so thought i ought to get to the bottom of it! I replaced the plugs that were 10k overdue, then replaced the injector plugs, as i knew they were crap anyway. The missfire still persists though, could it be a coil? (most rear n/s plug was noticeably lighter in colour too) Also the revs used to go higher on its initial startup, but now it just goes straight to normal idle speed in a slightly lumpy fashion! Dont mention compression please! :nono: Cheers Steve
  12. Ahh, replying to myself! it says subscribed already, great!!
  13. Hi ive just subscribed via paypal but didnt see a place to enter my details? My name is Stephen Hall, 78 birdhill road, woodhouse eaves, loughborough, leicestershire, Le12 8rr. My user name is Stevie, My email is samantha.hall4@btinternet.com It would be really reasuring to get a responce to this post! Cheers Steve
  14. Still cant find the link i saw before (had pics too) but if you scroll down to 'intake camshaft sprockets' on this link http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/timingBelt/timingBelt.html, you will see he has soldered his pulleys. I going to do mine soon now, and solder the other one too, before it leaks! Cheers Steve
  15. I have the same problem on mine, only on the right hand intake pulley. I have replaced the cam seals twice to no avail, and the 'o' ring is in good order too! When i saw this post, it jogged my memory of a link i saw, someone had soldered the seem on the backside of the pulley to cure this problem. I have done some searching, but cant seem to find it again, and this is really the only zx site i use! If i do find the link in the meantime, ile post it up. Cheers Steve
  16. its not an mot failure btw, fix them at your leisure hey!
  17. Hi all, ive always had weak 4th (and 2nd) syncro's, but coming back from santapod last sunday i believe ive finished it off! I was up and down into 4th quite a few times having some fun, crunch crunch crunch! now it tends not to want to come out of 4th very easily? I'm assuming a cracked hub and new baulk rings are called for? (common on micras as it goes!) anyone know of gearbox part suppliers? And any good tips i should know? Thanks Steve
  18. Thats great, will get on with that next week. Thanks all, Steve
  19. Brilliant! i feel a bit happier now, i will check or prob just change the pcv's, is there a kit available? Im having an oil change tomorrow, ready to drive to the pod at the w/end. See how it goes hey, Thanks again Steve
  20. I'm pressuming its the dredded turbo, but i would like a second and different opinion please! When the car is left idling for about 5 mins when hot, it begins to smoke out of the right hand exhaust, after pulling away it clears. The turbos were both re-cond about 9'ooo miles ago, its on standard tubs, de-cats, filter exhaust, stage 1 chip. Thanks for any help, STEVE
  21. Ive fitted loads of Gates belts on cars, never no probs? 1 of the best belts around IMO. Gates are OE for loads of manufacturers, & no worse than a nissan belt i would say. Thought there was only about 4 belt makers anyway? QH is crap IMO (on occasions anyway), but its all down to personal experiance i recon. Steve
  22. I decatted and removed the washer type restricters (jap import) about 3 months ago, it was a bit louder, and seemed much more responsive IMO. The only prob i had was drilling out and replacing the studs i sheared off (mostly caused by a bad temper!). I think you should be ok MOT wise unless its 95 on, but i will stand corrected! Cheers Steve
  23. Thanks Jeff, i'll order some new one's. Ive noticed all jap bolts seem to be made of toffee!! Was me that left a message BTW :D
  24. I have '90' TT, which i recently hit a roundabout in! Iv'e noticed lately that when i corner a little hard, the column moves to 1 side or the other about 10-15 mm. I had a quick look, and noticed it has alu slides which dont really grip the column? Anyway, for now, iv'e thrown out the slides & fitted big washers. Is there something i'm missing? or do i need new alu inserts? Thanks in advance for any help, Steve
  25. Unsure whats happened to you in the past, but ive not long been separated from my wife, she f****d off with another bloke in the village, leaving me & our 6yr daughter behind, (still dont know why? thinking of getting a ford KA like him!!) So i dont feel confident either. Anyway, im missing a woman in my life, but i'm very shy, & have not yet met one for a convo or otherwise! I'm going out next sat, i'm staying soberish, & seeing if i can meet some girl, a dirty one preferably! Hope you find someone good mate, just keep persevering, im gonna!
