  1. Car is a UK 1992 TT manual. Recently had a minor prang which caused some damage to the front bumper (was only a gentle tap, nothing hard), don't think this is related, but .... Car had just been running/driving fine for about 30 mins, then sat idling for about 10 minutes outside a shop. Trying to drive the car away, it felt like the clutch had completely gone; clutch fully up in 1st resulted in a slight strain from the engine, nothing else. Tried turning off engine, waiting, pumping pedal etc, trying different gears etc. Eventually got car home by driving in first at about 3mph. Clutch felt slight lighter than usual, and stiff as normal with ignition off; no fluid or anything under where car was idling. Driving it home was like driving with a severely slipping clutch - although no noise/smell/odd feeling like a completely worn clutch, and it had been fine up till then ! any ideas would be appreciated :| Cheers
  2. I'm in York, wouldn't mind the odd meet up, don't mind travelling so long as it's on nice roads :)
  3. Just out of curiosity, why not ?
  4. Excellent cheers mate, i'll give them a call tomorrow...course once it's done it's not going to be hot anymore !
  5. Cheers. Will give you a shout if needed :)
  6. Currently running gentoo + debian at home, use XP + debian at work...Would have to say if you're going to use MS then don't use IE or outlook (express or otherwise). Most worms + viruses tend to propogate through vulnerabilities within these two. XP's not too bad at all, and MS have upped the stakes with SP2 - provided it doesn't break anything :)
  7. I like a bit of camembert, provided it's been well brought up. You just can't trust Brie to not goo on the crackers any more. Tintern's quite well behaved, though.
  8. In no particular order :) ; Replacement NS turbo fitted (may possibly use this chance to upgrade turbos) New speed sensor Cambelt change Compression test Front discs change (although shouldn't have a problem doing this one myself) Fuel lines replacement + upgrade, think I may have a small leak AC recharge (has R12 in atm, not working) Look at / sort out rear OS suspension There's more, as with above budget allowing. I've always worked on my cars myself before, but this is my first one with so many toys, and the current lack of decent work area is seriously inhibiting learning :'(
  9. Have quite a lot that needs doing to my Z which is sadly off the road again (fortunately only because of no tax this time), and would like to find somewhere local to me - York. I've had some work done at the Nissan garage in Malton, and while they were very nice people, they won't do things non-nissan to the car and charge quite a bit. I've no longer got a driveway or garage and so can't do the larger jobs myself :( Searched around quite a bit and not found anything other than the Nissan authorised place in Malton, so any recommendations would be greatly appreciated :)
  10. Cheers, appreciate there have been some changes !
